I've never been a big fan of playing Chaos. I might pick it up to write better villains. But as close as I get to being interested in warp-play is radical campaigns.

I used white bristol for the base. I sketch in pencil, ink with prismacolor pens, then do values rendering in pitt markers. The background is ink wash pencil. Then I scan, add a sepia layer, and use photoshop to add highlight layers.

alright, thanks a lot.
excuse me for my ignorance but i am not familiar with "bristol" (and looking it up online i reached no conclusion), so could you please describe what exactly it is(besides a city)?
[PS: when i first read "i used..." i couldnt help but expect you had taken an arrow to the knee...]

Thanks! It is easily one of the most ambitious pieces I've ever attempted. And as a result it's been the most popular. My goal now is to best it.

is there a story behind this? it's awesome.
i see an inquisitor, perhaps an ex-arbite with the shotgun? techpriest, sororita, and an ex-guardsman with autogun.
it's a cool layout. i like.

It's the characters for the players of my Dark Heresy campaign over at rpol.net.
No Inquisitor here... these are Acolytes of Inquisitor Orien Ffettrill.
Adepta Sororitas: Corrine Alecia (top right)
(ex)Adaptus Arbites: Hector (bottom right)
Assassin: Cutter (far left)
Psyker: Wolfe (middle bottom)
(ex guard)Enginseer: Bishop Geist (middle top)

start with published material. it's easier to condition players when there's a concrete plot.

I took the two sample adventures... Shattered Hope and Maggots in the Meat and recompiled them into a single mission called Shattered Maggots. I reworked them significantly to launch my overarching meta campaign. So far the players seem to be enjoying it. Though I think I have the opposite problem of you. My guys seem bored out of their collective minds if they're not killing things. So the investigation periods are slow and tedious with little actual character building going on.

yeah sounds about right. these guys are mad for the little stuff. I wanna see fast-paced action and stuff getting 'splodey. I've built my (pants) campaign as such, but it's like they wanna settle down and have babies.

dForrest In reply to soulfreeze [2011-09-06 17:56:05 +0000 UTC]
So kill their babies. Slaughter their livestock. Put a pox on their families and put them into intrigues that will uproot their worlds.

Heh. Is this the point where evil laughing commences?
I'm thinking, session's tomorrow. one needs an arm back, one is trying to learn wrangling. beyond that, it's anybody's guess. For a first time DM'ing I'm glad my players are enjoying themselves, but I need the shit to hit the fan (seeing as how I'm paying them to do a mission for me/the inquisitor...)
UPROOT THEIR WORLDS
MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAA

Try to think of it in general story telling terms.
In a typical story you've got three acts.
Act I: The hero's world defined.
Act II: The hero's world jeapordized/destroyed
Act III: The hero's world restored/renewed.

The Campaign i was running ended on wednesday (due to other commitments) so the next one I can run will be a pre-made. It just went on too long.
I did learn a massive amount, but I'll probably have questions for you in the future.
Those three acts seem very transferrable - I'll have to rewrite the campaign I've got so far with that in mind.
