So here's some roughs I'm working on. Banged my head against the wall trying to come up with a cover type piece that wouldn't be too much of a cliche of past Frazetta type layouts. Sadly, this was the best I could do.Doing his best or worst Rambo impression, blade in mouth, Conan makes his way through a pool of his victims. Wheee!
The finished pencil & inked version *I hope* will be a lot better. But I had to jot this one down just to fudge out an idea.

I understand where you are coming from. sometimes it feels like its all been done before. But maybe its not the subject matter but the way you do it. I don't know, but there has to be something still left to do!

This ought to make for a very strong vertical-moving composition, and like thelearningcurv said, it's very iconic. It kinda reminds me of that classic Spirit cover where the Spirit's head is half-rising from water and it's spilling out of his cap. Good stuff.
