Jodie was the scariest character in the book. He trampled George but he managed to flee with his family in the end of the book.

Why on Earth, or Hell, did they make Jodie a demon pig? In fact, if this is real and all, they said they actually mainly saw Jodie as an evil pig monster. WTF?! Why would she want to interpret herself as an ugly, snorting hog?!

'Jody the pig' was a nasty entity involved in the supposedly true haunting account and had nothing at all to do with 'Jody the ghost girl' which was completely made-up for the recent movie remake. The murdered Defeo daughter's name was in fact Allison, not Jody: Jody was the name given to the pig demon by the young Lutz daughter whom it visited regularly in the original account. Basically the director replaced the spectral pig with the ghost girl, almost scene for scene - the pig's glowing red eyes were seen peeking in or out of windows on a few occasions by the parents, supposedly locked a babysitter in a closet, etc etc. The old 80's version of the Amityville Horror did indeed include the pig-thing and it was far creepier than the remake's invented ghost girl.

Then again the entire haunting was probably invented, so meh.

Also, in the book they go into more detail about Jodie and how it haunts the home. Jodie is a very interesting character.

If you watch Amityville the true story documentary
you hear on it that Ronald refered to the next door neighbours cat as pig but not sure if its the same thing.

The ghost-girl Jody was completely made up for the new movie and based on the real-life death of Allison Defeao. In the original haunting account Jody was actually a creepy pig-like demon that frequented the bedroom of the Lutz's young daughter. AKA Jody was always a red-eyed pig until some silly director decided to replace it with a fictional ghost girl several decades later.
