Thank you so much Caroline! Merci beaucoup! This one, was my very first intended shot with my first reflex camera. I've enjoyed so much when I saw the results. Thanks a lot for taking your time to watch it! Au revoir!

I really think that you take amazing pictures And it's both nice and interesting to be able to talk and exchange about it ! That's something I really appreciate on DA, to be able to see what other people do, and for those who have the time, to talk and share experiences !
Hasta Luego on DA

Lovely colours and composition. You composed well for both the statues and their reflections. The time of the day it was shot at was the best time to bring out the best of this place.

Wow, amazing shot!
What's the history of this temple? I mean how can an Egyptian temple occure in Madrid? Or is it just that it's only Egyption style but it is built by Spanish people?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Dhaundre In reply to ElectraExtra [2010-01-08 20:11:34 +0000 UTC]

In the early 2nd century BC, Adikhalamani (Tabriqo), the Kushite king of MeroΓ«, started its construction by building a small single room chapel dedicated to the god Amun.
In 1960, due to the construction of the Great Dam of Aswan and the consequent threat posed to several monuments and archeological sites, UNESCO made an international call to save this rich historical legacy. As a sign of gratitude for the help provided by Spain in saving the temples of Abu Simbel, the Egyptian state donated the temple of Debod to Spain in 1968.

Or... We bought it in eBay xD

Thanks for your interest ^^

ElectraExtra In reply to Dhaundre [2010-01-09 10:45:41 +0000 UTC]

Thanks for the information!
I will efinitely remember this! I adore UNESCO because of its work! Thanks to its actions a lot of monuments, sculptures, castles, temples etc. have been saved and reconstructed. Once we go to Madrid I will definitely persuade my father to visit this temple. He is also a culture vulture; like me. Once I have been to Spain, but we didn't have the opportunity to go to Madrid. We spent a week in Llerena, and during this time we visited Merida and Caceres. Oh, I loved them, especially Caceres (it's because I'm in love with Roman and Greek culture.)

Well, today you can buy anything on eBay. Though, I have never bought anything on it, I sometimes browse its page and find some crazy products...
