It's just that Kax has an illness that prevents him from feeling pain or distinguishing differences in temperature.
Hedwig fed him with too hot soup and he didn't even notice his mouth getting burnt and later one of his stitches ripped as he tried to carry her to the infirmary after she passed out.
So basically it's just very bad luck

There's sadly not much of a scenery, I should really get myself to draw more detailed backgrounds orz
