similarities:
Heroes killed many enemy units, sometimes unnecessarily or cowardly.
CriminalsΒ killed many enemy units, sometimes unnecessarily or cowardly.
differences:
Heroes were given medals, military honours and mentions; some received great prixes including titles of noblety and lands.
Criminals were accused of all sort of crimes against humanity, many times killed without trial and left to rot in the pages of history as antagonists.
IMPORTANT FACT: ALL HEROES ARE IN THE SIDE THAT WINS.

Yeah, the men who fight in wars are really just blank, mindless dolls with no personal reasons for their involvement or souls whatsoever, RIIIIGHT?Β So hey, lets just call the people who defend our way of life "heroes" in the most sarcastic way possible because that's totally not insulting their sacrifices or anything >.>

War is like a tournament. You join a side and you try to beat the other team to get the shiny reward. As you fight against the other team, you slowly realize it is hopeless, but by then, it is already too late.

my mother recently had gone to nurse in the Montreal Veterans' Hospital.
this building holds the remains of men who fought for the light where the rest of the world would run from the darkness that ruled there. I have witnessed these men live their lives simply waiting for death in hopes of receiving some form of redemption or forgiveness once they find their way out of this world. these heroes who have fought for what was right, who went into battle expecting to die, only to be given a second life that of which they were too mentally broken to use... in the future I will enlist in light infantry, and I pray that I either never have to use my rifle, or am put out of my misery before the memories that I collect rot me from the inside out...
