Living up to expectations is a hard thing.

 

But maybe it is not too late.

Maybe

There is hope

In our depths.

 

I did this for my mother and my good friend's son.

They both passed away this year.

 

The title is from a Sunny Day Real Estate song.

Very sorry for your loss brother, and for your friend's. When that kind of loss comes it is always too soon.

This is quite but strong, like a slow river with invisible depth, unwavering. Nice to see are still doing lovely work.

It's all slowly coming back to me. But honestly, that's not enough.
Being as good as I once was is not the goal. Being better will always be the unfinished goal. Being perfect is the finished line I never plan to cross.
That is the goal.

thanks. the idea came to me about a year ago. before everything started to happen.
and then it did.
goes without saying it took on a new meaning.
the kid with the umbrella is Jared.
he was jumping off a bridge into a bay in the Gulf of Mexico.
but that's not how he passed away.
he took his own life about a year after.
about a month after cancer took my mom.
sorry.
it's really about hope.
about the mother and son relationship.
the unfinished journey.
the eternal wave we ride together.
forever.

life is about staying unfinished.
always evolving.
reinventing.
knowing if you lose touch with yourself.
you are within reach.
