Description Greek Mythology
Chione was a nymph of Mount Haemus in Thrace (north of Greece). She was a daughter of Boreas, god of the north-wind, and Oreithyia, the lady of mountain gales. Khione was probably a goddess of snow (khiôn).

Orithyia was the mountain-nymph wife of Boreas the North-Wind who dwelt with her husband in a cave on Mount Haemus in Thrace.
Oreithyia was once a mortal princess who was abducted by the god from the banks of the river Ilissos near Athens. He carried her off to Thrace where she became his immortal wife.
Oreithyia was probably the goddess of chill mountain winds for her name means "mountain-rager"--from the Greek words oreios and thyô--and she was named the mother of Chione (Snow).
Oreithyia's sisters Pandrosos (All Dewy) and Herse (Dew) were also minor Athenian deities. Oreithyia was probably the same as Chione who was also described as the consort of the North Wind.

Norse Mythology
Skadi (Skade, or Skathi) is a jötunn and goddess associated with bowhunting, skiing, winter, and mountains.
Skadi is the daughter of the deceased Thazi, and Skadi married the god Njordr as part of the compensation provided by the gods for killing her father Thazi. Skadi is described as having split up with Njordr and as later having married the god Odin, and that the two produced many children together. Skadi is responsible for placing the serpent that drips venom onto the bound Loki. Skadi is alternately referred to as Ondurgud (Old Norse 'ski god') and Ondurdís (Old Norse 'ski dís').
