Description
Greek Mythology: Pleiades
Alcyone
She was a Pleiad-nymph of Mount Cithaeron in Boiotia (central Greece) loved by the god Poseidon.
Alkyone's name means either "strong-helper" from the Greek words alkê and oneô (oninêmi) or "kingfisher" from alkyôn. References to birds are also found in the name Peleiades "doves" and Merope the "bee-eater" (Greek merops).
Norse Mythology: Nine Mothers of Heimdall
Atla ('The argumentative one' or 'the hefty'/'the forceful)
The Nine Mothers of Heimdallr are nine sisters who gave birth to the god Heimdallr. Scholars have debated what being "born of nine mothers" implies and have sought to connect the notion to other European folk motifs.
