Elza is a stylish pony, always fashionable and glamorous. She puts her appearance at the center of her life, and takes great care with it, especially her hair. She's quite egocentric and arrogant. She constantly uses her wealth and the fact that she's a princess to promote herself. While on the surface she may appear cold, contemptuous and condescending towards ponies she doesn't know or whom she considers inferior to her, she turns out to be a sensitive, gentle and kind-hearted little thing when you get to know her. Elza is a true drama queen, but behind this aspect lies a very romantic pony who is not afraid of love. However, Elza can also be very impulsive, touchy, jealous and irritable. But she's still a fun-loving pony who will sacrifice herself (on occasion) for her friends.

The moon and the soldier (Luna X Nightmare Story):
Princess Luna, guardian of dreams and night, and General Nightmare, fervent and honest guard of the royal navy, met years ago, when Princess Luna had just returned from her exile on the moon. Nightmare was just another young recruit, but Princess Luna immediately saw something special in him.
However, their romance didn't really begin until later, after the princess had retired.
One stormy night in Silver Shoals, Princess Luna who was always bored here, strolled along the bay's docks, when something huge approached. It was a Royal Navy ship that had been damaged in a violent storm. Luna welcomed the crew, who needed to rest. But after that, she didn't sleep, in fact she talked with Admiral Nightmare all night. The two, delighted to meet again after so many years, exchanged a kiss and began dating. Nothing was easy between them, especially given the distance between them: Luna lived in Silver Shoals with her sister, while Nightmare was stationed in Manehattan, where Equestria's naval base was located. Yet their relationship held out, and after three years the princess even became pregnant. Nightmare was fulfilled. Luna moved to Manehattan for the duration of the pregnancy, then to Canterlot a few weeks after the birth, so as to raise the future sovereign of Equestria in good condition. The two thus had a long-distance relationship, but this suited Luna, who liked her independence, and Nightmare, who wanted to wait for the highest rank in the navy before returning to his people. This didn't stop them from getting married on their daughter's second birthday, and living the perfect little love life.

Baby-Toddler Years:
When she was born, and as is often the case in her life, Elza was a source of surprise to her close ones, in this case the trigger was her appearance. Elza was the spitting image of her father and had nothing in common with her mother.

But just as their relationship was improving, Luna announced that she was pregnant again. Nightmare, surprised by the news, asked for a leave of absence, and came to live in Canterlot for 2 years. This return, coupled with all the attention her little sister demanded, deeply upset Elza, who was jealous of Comet Star. And, so the relationship with her parents fractured over the long term. Elza, feeling neglected, resumed her tantrums and took out her anger on her little sister. Nightmare, lured by the prospect of promotion, eventually returned to Manehattan, although he remained accustomed to paying more attention to Comet than to Elza.

Teen Years:
The years that followed were relatively quiet for our princess-to-be. Oh yes, because I forgot to mention that our little unicorn, being the first to be born, was training to become the future princess of stars and dreams, to rule Equestria with her cousin Bonbon and Princess Twilight.
Speaking of her training, it's worth mentioning that Elza, more than happy to be a princess, didn't pay much attention to it. In fact, she'd rather spend her days shopping or reading fashion magazines than sitting in a chair listening to her mother talk for hours. This impertinent attitude exasperated her mother, who wished her daughter would concentrate on her studies instead of thinking only about fashion. A year later, at the age of 17, Elza entered Cadiance with her friends. She became the crystal element of beauty and battled Nightmare Hope, Shadow and Sweeter Swirls. She also restored the lost Legendary Kingdom with Diamant. A few months later, Princess Cadance entrusted her with the task of welcoming a new Radiant Hope pupil: Black Shadow. Initially his friend, she developed feelings for him. Despite being warned by her friend Diamant that the boy was not clean, Elza became close to Black. Adult Life:
At the age of 24, Elza married her high school sweetheart Black Shadow. Then, 7 years later, the two became the parents of twins. At 33, Elza became pregnant again and gave birth to a baby boy. 13 years later, Elza had her last child with Black.

Pre G5 Life :
Unlike her best friend Diamant, Elza didn't have to worry about her husband's time of death, as Black Shadow was immortal. Unaware of her good fortune, Elza didn't understand the agitation of the Princess of Harmony and sided with Twilight in the struggle to create the Unity Crystals.
Her mistake proved fatal, however, as the crystals had failed to maintain harmony since Diamant's departure, and Elza had to sacrifice herself to save Equestria and bring Diamant back. Her husband having followed her, Elza continued her life in the spirit world, happy with her family.
