Wamma was pacing back in forth, waiting to get a word from Sarah. Three days ago she went into labor so she went to Earth to give birth. He wanted to come with her but only royals and ambassadors are allowed to go to Earth. Wamma didn’t know why they couldn’t make an exception since his mate was having a baby but no one wanted a huge bug at the hospital freaking everyone out.

He felt so bad that he wouldn’t get to be there to witness the birth of his child, but Sarah said it’s not his fault and everything would turn out fine. Wamma was so worried that he hasn’t ate or spelt since Sarah left. “Giving birth is supposed to be really tiring, Sarah might just be take time to rest,” Wamma told himself. He hoped Sarah would turn up soon, he wanted to make sure her and the baby was okay.

Wamma turned when he heard someone coming, but his antennas drooped when he saw it was a Danian.

“Hey Wamma,” The Danian guard said, “I’m supposed to tell you that your mate is here and...” He wasn’t able to finish because Wamma ran right past him almost knocking him over.

Wamma kept running, not stopping until he saw a familiar figure, “Sarah,” Wamma cried out happy when he saw his mate with a small bundle in her arms.

“Wamma,” Sarah said her eyes lighting up, happy to see him, “I want you to meet your daughter Alita Laurence. “

“My daughter,” Wamma said a bit surprised, looking down at the little girl in Sarah’s arms. She was wrapped up in a pink blanket; red antenna’s sticking out of her red hair. He really wasn’t expecting a girl since it’s very rare for a female Danian to be born. A female danian is probably born every one hundred years and when she is she’s raised to be the future queen. But he could worry about that later. “Can I hold her,” Wamma asked nervously.

Sarah laughed, “Of course you can Wamma she’s your daughter.” She handed Alita over to Wamma who took her into his arms gently.

As Wamma held his daughter for the first time he felt a wave of warmth, love and happiness, the same thing he felt when he first met Sarah. “She’s beautiful, just like you,” Wamma said smiling at Sarah who blushed, “I can’t believe I’m a father, or how great it feels to be one.”

“I know what you mean, I cried so much when I held her because I was just so happy,” Sarah said hugging Wamma and looking down at Alita.

“I’m really sorry that I couldn’t be there when you were giving birth,” Wamma said sadly, “You know I would have done anything to be there right?”

Sarah kissed the side of Wamma’s beak, “I know Wamma, and I wished you could have been there too. But like I said before it wasn’t your fault.”

Wamma made a purring clicking sound and nuzzled Sarah, “I love you. I’m the luckiest Danian ever. I have a wonderful mate and a beautiful baby girl. I honestly can’t imagine my life getting any better.”

Sarah blushed, “I love you too Wamma, I’m so happy we were able to start a family together. We both got pretty lucky.”

“Yeah, and we’ll both be great parents,” Wamma said smiling down at Alita who let out a big yawn, “Awwww, look at that, she has my yawn.”

“Looks like somebody needs a nap,” Sarah said taking Alita.
Wamma yawned, “Yeah, I didn’t get much sleep the last few days so a nap sounds good,” he then noticed the look Sarah was giving him, “Oh, you were talking about Alita.”

Sarah rolled her eyes then smiled at Wamma, “I think we could all use a little rest.”

“I think the reason why I couldn’t sleep the past few days is because I’m so use to sharing a bed with you that I can’t sleep if you’re not with me,” Wamma said, “It’s hard to sleep if I don’t have you to cuddle with.”

“That’s so sweet Wamma,” Sarah said blushing, feeling touched then noticed Alita had fallen asleep and was sucking her thumb, “She is just so cute!”

Wamma smiled at the two special girls in his life. It seemed like just yesterday he was an ordinary mandiblor, now here he was with a human as a mate and a child they had together. Something like this had never been done in the Danian tribe. The only other creatures who had humans as mates where the leaders of the Overworld and Underworld; they also had kids.

Wamma never thought he’d ever do anything meaningful in his life but now he had the most important job of all. Being a husband and a father, and he would not take those responsibilities lightly.
