Dash was born in the everfree forest to a earth pony and a pegasus. His parents left him to fend for himself. He was lucky that zecora was out looking for some hearts desire for an elixir. When she first saw him she was aghast, she could not believe someone would leave a poor pegasus colt to fend for himself. She abandoned her basket of hearts desire and brought the poor colt home. She fed him and took care of him. When he was older he decided he wanted to learn to make potions and elixirs, Zecora was skeptical at first but after a couple of training sessions saw that he had a talent for it. Dash loved to make the elixirs and potions he saw in Zecoras books, but once he got good enough he started to create his own recipes. One year ponyville had an awful drought (due to the weather factory being down) and ponyville couldn't find a solution. Dash new that he could make some kind of elixir that could allow pegasus ponies to make clouds. He put all his time and energy trying to find the right ingredients for this elixir. One day he finally got it right. He told all the ponies of ponyville to meet in town hall so he could show of his new elixir. All the ponies laughed at him at first, but after he demonstrated how it worked all the ponies saw the light. The mayor gave out this elixer to the weather ponies. As soon as the pegasi started to form clouds it began to rain. As soon as dash saw the first droplet hit the ground he realized he was meant to make potions. It wasnt until he went back to zecoras hut that he had realized he had gotten his cutie mark, a cloud with three diamonds falling from it. When he got old enough to leave he moved to canterlot to sell potions and teach others how to make them.
NOTE: He is not a crystal pony, this is just the crystal version of him.

I like him, but hes a bit of a Mary-Sue. :/ I mean, Zecora could be the one would would've found him, and then taught him a few tricks, but then she would put him up for adoption or something, idk.

Well there is something in the bio I forgot to add, with the amulet he can use powers as he pleases, but he cant use his wings. And also, in the show zecora is very fond of children, like when she met applebloom. I may somewhat agree with your opinion on the amulet, but I dont feel as if Zecora would put a lost child up for adoption.
