You know, it's a funny thingThat when a girl of fourteen
Decides the only way in life
Through which she can cry
Is to slice open her wrists
With daddy's whittling knife
Everyone says:
"I didn't know it had gotten that bad."
And suppose she survives
Gets to live on
But thinks the only way in which
She can show the world she hurts
Is to slice at her arms
Until they're covered with cuts
People still say:
"I didn't know it had gotten that bad."
At nineteen years old
Perhaps she decides
To swallow all the tablets she finds
Maybe she only wants
To get some dead-log sleep
But when she's found later
It's still the same thing:
"We didn't know it was getting that bad."
So, pray, let me ask
When a nineteen year old girl
Has lived with abuse all her life
Self-mutilates for 5 years straight
Can't sleep at night, because she's afraid
And lives dependant now in a child-like state
Seems trapped in her world of perpetual sound
Sees things, and hears things, when nothing's around
Tell me, what she must do
To make you understand
That it's "gotten THAT bad"?

No Mindas, though it is lovely that you do, your noticing doesn't help me much : ) It's all good though, the mental health people over here have finally sat up and started paying attention, so maybe now the people who need to notice, actually will do.

That's really powerful. It's kind of scary, and it makes you realize that there's so much of that kind of thing in the world that we have to watch out for. We all have to pay attention to our friends and family, and even just other people. That's just my thoughts on it though.
