Description
After learning about the superbly creepy and fantastic Schubert lied Der Erlkönig (based off the Goethe poem of the same name) in Music History, I immediately wanted to try my hand at an illustration for it! It follows a father and his sick child riding home through the woods, when the child starts insisting he is being whispered to by the elven Alder King. I also recommend checking out this excellent performance by Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau. It's an amazing piece of music with a monstrous solid-triplet piano accompaniment that makes my wrists hurt just looking at the score, haha.
