Description I thought this one would fit the "abstract" category better than the previous ones

Still experimenting with soap bubbles and lighting, I really love how this one turned out.
Yes, these are the real colors, there was very few edit here (slight color boost using the "vibrance" option + some noise reduction + darkened it slightly to make the darkest parts fully black since there were some very dark colored spots, all of this using CameraRaw). Original shot can be seen here : [link]

This is so beautiful. The vibrancy is simply stunning and I love the variety of colours. It strongly reminds me of the beauty of being underwater.

I guess 'few edits' are very different between artists

What would you call "few edits" then?
This is very close to the original, it looks the same on dark monitors, there were only some color enhancements using the basic tools in Camera Raw, I just cropped it in photoshop but nothing more... That's "very few edits" compared to HDR pieces or photographs using the clone/patch tool to remove imperfections, dodge + burn tool, etc...
This edit tool less than 2 minutes to do

Few edits to me, are only noise reduction, and if you have a lens like mine, slight sharpening. Anything past that you can clearly tell the difference from the original (it might be that my monitor is brighter, but I can tell a big between the black areas, on mine they go from gray to black) and are more significant to me.
But I am a more 'natural' photographer, where the best photos are ones straight out of camera. :]]

I guess it depends a lot on monitors indeed, the original one looks very dark on my monitor (although well calibrated) but it looks brighter on my boyfriend's (they go from grey to black such as yours, while they go to dark grey -almost black- to black on mine). Though, the ICC profiles may be the major cause of differences here... The original one is AdobeRGB while the other one is SRVB. When converting the original to SRVB, the colors changed drastically : much more contrast (dark places became darker) and more saturated colors

About the postwork thing, I'm more of an illustrator so I quite enjoy using the tools provided by Camera Raw and Photoshop (as long as there are not added things such as bokeh or textures, which belongs to the photomanip category to me then) to make photographs as eye-pleasing as possible while still keeping the essence of the original ones, I guess that's close to the kind of postwork involved in fashion photography / ads photographs (without all the cloning/patching/texturing/drastic lighting, proportions and color changes involved in these of course, as it becomes photomanip then, too)
I usually work on noise reduction / slight level tweakings if needed to correct a wrong white balance / some added vibrance in occasional cases and square cropping, and finally some smart sharpening as resizing make photographs look less detailed than the original ones. Not big edits to me compared to the ones I used to do at the beginning (before buying another desklamp to fix my lighting issues )

Correction of white balance and cropping are also considered small to me, the first one because that can be changed in-camera anyhow. But idk, to me, changing levels makes it more than a few edits.
Either way, it's still a lovely photograph.

It depends on how you change them
Using levels to slightly boost contrast can also be changed in-camera, fixing some channel issues too. Creating a "retro" effect such as the one people seem to love so much and which can be often seen on DA can't easily be achieved this way though (unless using some filters on the lens...)

Changing levels only to boost contrast feels somehow a bit closer to traditional photography techniques to me (which is done as post-work in darkrooms or using some specific films which give high or low contrast), then changing each level separately or using curves, cloning spots out of the photograph, removing grain is indeed something specific to digital photography. I guess I don't think slightly adjusting levels is a big edit as it can be done in a traditional way but then that's not really logical as removing noise can't be achieved this way...

*starts thinking a lot and feels like developping photographs in a darkroom now *__* *

Sorry for the rambling, I could talk about this for hours as it's a great passion to me
