Haven't uploaded here in ages... But I'm still drawing and I'm basically sitting on a quite sizeable pile of finished stuff which I mostly just don't feel like uploading. I'm not sure if I should move to another platform or not, and if so, which one.

But anyway, this is something I finished over a year ago.

Both the Mexican grey wolf and the Red wolf have something in common. It's that they're both crazily heavy inbred, and as such, are seeing population declines due to their general ill health, high rates of congenital defects, small litter sizes, higher infecundity, and high pup mortality.
At least they still have natural pressures to weed out the weakest individuals, but they're basically like the most inbred dog breeds with closed studbooks because scientists are apparently just as worried about keeping these populations "pure" as purebred dog fanciers are with keeping breeds "pure" even though they're all going into a negative feedback loop or "death spiral" where the only outcome is total extinction if no new blood is added from time to time.
And never mind that the status of these wolves was pretty dubious to begin with.

Regardless of their status though, I still think they're interesting animals.
