Description
Fallout: Equestria, Luna Doctrine, Energy Guns.
Near the end of the war basic ballistic small arms guns had reached their limit of their power and usability. Only thing Equestria could do was make their guns bigger, which made them more difficult to be used by the ground troops and worse for the pegasus air troops. The Steal rangers had no issue with heavy guns due to their power armor, allowing them to use the new heavier guns, but the Ministry of Wartime Technology and the Ministry of Awesome would not settle for their light troops being left with guns that were quickly becoming obsolete.
The answer they came to this problem was energy weaponry that used magic to power the gun. The idea was to outfit their troops with guns that would have a high damage output, but without sacrificing the troopers mobility by keeping the gun light. This would be most important for the pegasus, who relied on their maneuverability to avoid getting shot out of the sky, something heavier guns held them back on.
-Beam Guns-
Created through a joint effort of Ministry mares; Twilight, Applejack, Rainbow Dash and Rarity, the Beam weapon was made to replace the assault rifles and sidearms for the standard troops. Several variants of the MER (Magical Energy Rifle) and the MEP (Magical Energy Pistol) would be developed as the ministrys attempted to balance power with durability. Prioritized lighter troop for the Beam guns, the Pegasus air toppers were heavily outfitted with the guns, and readily equipped with newer models as the tech advanced. After the war the enclaved would primarily be armed with the newest models of Beam weapons, which were more powerful but more fagil, as the wastelanders below the clouds had access to the older models which were far more durable but less powerful.
The Ministries would develop other variants of the Beam guns to fit certain roles, such as multi gem beam shotguns, and Beam gatling guns which were made in far more limited numbers then the MER’s. There was also the Magical Energy Cannons, of which were primarily used as cloudship guns, commonly seen on Vertibuck.
Several colonies also tried their hooves on energy guns, often simply making variants of what already existed, but for civilian use. Most of these guns were cheap and underpowered, but a few did biome exepunaly popular as must have energy guns.
The Company Equestria Atomics would develop the recharge guns, Magical Energy guns that could recharge its own ammunition over time. It was a widely sought after gun in the civilian market, but ignored for military use due to being expensive and under power. The gun would see wide use after the war but because of its complex construction and few spare parts available, it has become a very rare gun in the wasteland, one ponies kill each other over.
Griffinstone Mechanics would develop the GM, ME, GBR (Magical Energy, Gatling Beam Rifle) Also called the “Beam Sweeper” it modeled after their well loved “Griffinstone Typewriter” to invoke nostalgia and style that the company was famous for. Despite being adored by Rarity and Rainbow Dash, this gun would see only a limited use in the war, primarily by the Shadowbolts and air defence trooper station in Cloudsdale. The “Beam Sweeper” was primarily used by the Griffinstone Home Guard, the guns jealously guarded by the griffins who used them. It would also be the inspiration for the M.o.W.T.’s Gatling Laser, which used a similar system, but in a bigger package.
-Plasma Guns-
A Late addition to the war, It would first come onto the scene with the Winchester Plasma Caster, a large weapon that fired superheated plasma from gemstone talismans. Despite the weapon being exceptionally devastating, Winchester company would be shut out by Rarity, who barely saw the gun before sticking her nose up at it. The weapon would fall into Rainbow Dash's hooves, who saw the potential, pursuing the patient at an exorbitant price so as to make a militarized version of the Plasma Caster.
The Ministry of Awesome, with aid of several trusted companies, would then develop the MPR (Magical Plasma Rifle) also known as the “Urban Melter” the weapon lacked the range of the Beam Rifles, but made up for it with pure power. A sidearm variant would also be developed under the same principles. Pegasus troops were the only ones who were outfitted with plasma guns before the war would come to an end, making the guns a nere unknown to all on the ground.
The only commercial plasma gun that would come onto the market would be the Plasma Defence Pistol “made” by Griffinstone Macaics. Like with their “Beam Sweeper” the gun resembled the “colt” pistol, despite it firing plasma. In truth, the Plasma Defence Pistol was made by Mouser for the Zebra army, but many of the guns were stolen and smuggled into equestria by Griffinstone Mechanic, the company having long been infiltrated by Griffin Gangsters that relied on smuggling to make their extra bits.
The Enclave would develop the Novasurge rifle and pistol right before the end of the war as an attempt to undermine Rainbow Dash as the pegasus protector. The high powered and high energy draining modified plasma guns would be found to be exceptionally durable compared to the standard Plasma guns. Unfortunately they required rare parts to make, which included the plasma weapons themselves, which needed to be turns into a Novasurge
-Gauss Rifle-
The Gauss Rifle would fire a small metallic projectile through a series of coils at a high rate of speed that was far more powerful than a standard bullet, causing the projectile to explode on contact. Griffinstone Mechanics would obtain this rifle at the same time they gained the Plasma Defence Pistol, smugging it out of Zebra controlled Griffin Lands and selling them to equestria. The Gauss Rifle would be used by Markspony specialists as a mid to long range carbine rifle, it acting much like the old battle rifle.
Later they would begin making their own variant for equestria, creating several gauss machine guns, including a gauss minigun. An attempt to make a gauss SMG was also attempted, but it never got out of the prototype phase before the end of the war.
