Yeah. Especially as will will properly examine the pictures and give points for things like technique, composition, idea etc. (Dunno if you know SuzukaShin - she is a pretty good artist herself and she can appreacite technique, composition etc well, and Shavana is pretty good in drawing, too, although she originally was trained mainly as design draughtswoman.)
I always hate the contests that are decided by people voting. Those are normally only popularity contests in the end, and very often the winner is not the best artist, but just the person who could mobilise the most friends into voting. ^^

Do you also hate the contests by voting? Look no further we have a major thing in common. I also hate them and so I've alienated some people and also the forums yaoi, because this is their system of voting in contests and ALWAYS happens to vote for the most popular person, not the one who did the best job based the difficulty of this and the result obtained. So I also wanted to participate in your contest, beyond the prize, because I saw it was to vote based on juries, as I'm considering what interests me is progress in my work and receive no empty praise.
I hope the best win!

That's cool! Well, I have entered one or two contests where there was a public vote, but I have to admit I didn't draw a new picture for them, I could enter one I already had. And when I saw the results in the end, I just shook my head.
If I draw something for a contest, then I want to know it is really appreciated, that is it is judged for its merits and not because of my standing (or not-standing) in the society. ^^
I will add a proper critique of the artworks after the judging is over. With my comment after I got the entry I was not too specific as I don't want to bias anyone who might read it. If you are interested, you can also ask for the points you got in each category, and I'm sure if you ask Suzu, she will give you a detailed critique of your work, too, as she is very good in that!

I have also already entered two contests by voting, but I've done more than anything to take advantage of new techniques and try to help those who organized the contest, nothing more.
I will be happy if I get criticism of my work, as you once said that critics do not bother me at all. So if the judges want to criticize the competition, have all the freedom to do O.<
