I was asked a couple of times lately about how I do the shading in my drawings, so here is a real size close up of my last work , I think it works fine as an example of my shading and crosshatching technique, and a sample of how my work looks in real size. Hope you like it.Related content

Well, I use Photoshop CS5 with a Wacom Intuos4 Medium Tablet, just the standard brushes, usually the hard round brush. My method is still under development, for the moment is a mixture of chaos, trial and error, frustration and a few moments of joy...

I like the way you bring the more charming qualities of traditional pencil and ink drawings to the digital realm...I do have a question though, do you work on one layer, all in one go, or do you build your drawings up on different layers?

In this case i drew all the lines in one layer, but most of the times I draw the hair in a different layer. I add other layers depending on the colors and textures I use, and a couple of adjustment layers for levels and color balance.
