Boxing dragons FTW!Yeah, this is actually my final project for my Advanced Photoshop class on this semester. It probably took me around 10-12 hours, since I had to find the right brushes first and I was working with 300 dpi as required. This also marks the first time I've worked entirely with a tablet from scratch, and it was a rather blissful experience.
But the more important thing is that this is my birthday gift for the awesome ~artographer-513 , portraying his character Drago as a lean, mean, punching machine. He's done a lot of awesome giftart for me over the past three years, as shown in here in 2007 , 2008 , and 2009 .
Hope you get a lot of kick (or maybe punch) out of this, Art!

I think it would be interesting. Like the original cast of characters were pretty interesting and it be funny to see little Mac up against something like this.

Yeah, school does take up quite a bit of time. So does a full-time job.

Oh my bad Digi, I couldn't handle the awesomeness of this picture! 
You did a brilliant job on the textures! It really does give a vivid impression of scales! His body responding on the light source and the details on his wing membrane are very well done!
I have to be honest although I do like the "bloody" background, to me I think it doesn't give much contrast to Drago. He kinda blends in and can be distracting to look at. I think it would probably look a lot better if you "dimmed" it to give him more contrast... but that's just me. |D
But even then, I still love it! X3 And I glad drawing him helps you on your final project! Thank you very, very, VERY much for drawing him, Digi!

And yeah, I guess I could try to make the bloody background dimmer, but I haven't quite found a good contrast. Making it too dim would make it less like blood and more like ink, which sort of doesn't meshes with the whole "punching at the viewer" gig. But that's just my personal take on it.
Regardless, I had a fun time doing this one, mainly because of the whole tablet thing. And I want to thank you back for doing that pic of Drago in boxing clothes a long while back, that's what I used for reference.

They provided the tablet at the classrooms, so I have to get my own tablet after this semester if I want to pursue fully digital art.

Well... I changed his boxing trunks to black and white to reflect his usual unzipped leather jacket. Then I gave him blue gloves to wear too. :>

I love the detail of brushwork you have been using, I hopefully will learn how to make more textured work some day. But until then, well done!
I also like that sort of "blood" effect in the background, it blends incredibly well with the character colours, but doesn't draw too much away from the character itself.
