It's been a while since I submitted something~!-cutting the long story short-
So in the end, we looked at the official art and somehow we got to the point in saying Mammon/Viper's pre-arcobaleno self has hair sorta like Lal's in a way and so... I dunno, something.
Anyway this something turned into this, which I coloured with yet another new style....... yeah, it didn't turn out well. But all well. It's only a something.

( :'D and teeccchnically. in Japanese, they only use gender neutral pronouns when speaking about Viper/Mammon and ViperMammon uses Male and Female speech patterns when talking and when refering to themself.
So it's still plausible Viper is female. It's 50/50%. The translation that Viper is male is ..simply that. A translation.

(yeah, I get what you mean and I like drawing him/her as a girl better anyway but ... it's really hard to say, you can tell that they want you to think them as a male though, I just gotta say xD;

XD I totally get that. I constructed arguements for and against it and attempted to pay attention to stupid little details (and, yeah went to lengths to listen to the speechpatterns. cus. I have no life.)
my personal opinion is mammon/viper started off as male, or was intended as such and used genderneutral pronouns just as a sense of mystery. and then the author realized she had absolutely no females in the varia and then made adultviper look far more feminine without saying anything definitely.
(..though in one of earliest mangas there was a 'male' character who ended up being a girl. and then in khr they thought both i-pin and lal were boys at first soooo IDK IDK LOOK I'M RANTING AGAIN FRACK)

xDD Ohh dear... pfffft, that actually makes sense in some ways more than others :'D And.. the reason why there aren't females in the varia, isn't it because of the boss...? o-o And also, some of the things Viper/Mammon says in the Mist Ring Battle are against females aren't they..? (gaahhh, I'm sorry, I started arguing against it again =_='') Well anyhow, the majority of the people I know say that he's a guy that ...looks like a girl and so-hey wait, I forgot about that. Ahhh I'm stuckkk..

I don't think Xanxus would care since the varia worked with the Cervello (I think Xanxus hates everyone about equal, except for a few choice people *tsuna*)
And I'd imagine as long as the female was willing and capable it wouldn't matter in the Varia, or Vongola given there has been a Female Boss and female guardians it wouldn't matter too much.
And I think Mammon was more addressing the fact Chrome was new and unknown than being female, given Mammon him/her/its self ended up hiding their body and trying to escape (since hiding their body was one of the 'female' traits of a mist user) and then reacted as strongly if not more to the drug that caused pain and then in TYL committed suicide when basically cornered.
But who knows ><
My main argument for Mammon being female (when I'm argueing for it, rather than against) is the art style. Mammon is drawn with Amano's female at traits rather than the male. Specially the colored art. The jaw line and nose are more female, with the exception of Fran, Tsuna and Basil. But the best example is the lips. ONLY females in KHR have their lips colored in like Mammon's were. Seriously. Not Fran or Tsuna or any other girlboy in the series has had their lips colored in. WITH the exception of Skull, who was wearing Lipstick, but naturally. no males.

o-o I never figured that one out... and I s'pose that's true, I wonder about those Cervello though. I just assumed because there are basically no females in the Varia and all....
Well, I'm not too good with picking out important points so thank you for clearing that up >-<;; Ahhh yeah, I thought about all that too, but no-one really knows enough about Mammon to determine gender (unless they're taking a guess or have some firm belief or somethinggg) because most of the stuff he/she does is pretty gender-neutral ((like some people say his/her personality is more likely male but... look at M.M (oops sorry, I got sidetracked again)
...ohhhh, well I guess that works too. However even with the lips, it could've been just that feature that happened to be there (...though I guess it doesn't work that way) because illusionists supposedly aren't very strong (?) in the physical department which is also why his/her/asdfghjkl body frame is also more narrow compared to other people. And following that, may have to take more care looking after their body. Or it's an illusion, I have no idea. Amano doesn't really go into the Arcobaleno as adults so ehhhh...
