Description Switzerland X Reader ~ The Book ~ The Thief Lord

Trigger Warnings, Social Anxiety, Panic Attack. If you notice anything else Triggering please note me or comment below.

You started to plod up the stairs up to the third floor; the elevator was shut down for upgrading. Your heavy breathing echoed in the cement room.

Thank god I didn’t pick the Odyssey like I had planned to.

I think I would die if I had to walk up to the seventh floor.

After entering into the correct floor you pressed your fist to your chest as you gasped for air.

I need to get in shape.

You glanced up to notice signs lining the ceiling and as you took a closer look noticed it was sorted by the different languages the books were translated from.

Spanish… Portuguese… Dutch… French…

Ah here it is.

German.

There was already two men standing in the German section, one was a muscular blonde with his hair slicked back and the other was a gangly albino with startling red eyes. You recognized the pair of them as the two that sat in front of you in Literature Analysis.

You quickly walked past the German section, your palms starting to sweat profusely.

Maybe if I walk around they won’t be here anymore when I come back.

You had always been like this, at least as far back as you could remember. Your entire body would shake if you had to talk to another person. And if you were pressured enough it would happen.

Your parents faces of shame and disappointed flashed throughout your eyes as you remembered the last time it happened.

Well it’s not going to happen again and the two males were gone when you finished your loop around.

Things were looking up.

Now to find that book, you swiftly danced your fingers across the spines of the books.
Ah!

Here it is.

The Thief Lord, you reminisced of the first time you read this. You were lying in bed after having your appendix removed when your parents gifted you with the book to occupy yourself as you healed.

As you pulled it off the shelf you were too absorbed in your glee about finding the book that you didn’t notice someone appearing behind you.

“Excuse me,” a voice snapped you out of your excitement, “but could jou move over.”

“Su… sure,” your suddenly shaking hands could barely hold onto the book, “I… I’m s..sorry to be a hi… hindrance.”

Your heart beat fiercely in your chest and your breathing turned shallow and fast as fear wracked your body.  You moved to the side to allow a blonde man with shoulder length moved into the section.

His green eyes glanced at you before being taken aback.

“Are jou alright?”

Oh god, please not now.

Black swarmed to form a barrier blocking most of your eyesight except for a focus circle on the blonde’s face.

“I’m fine,” you breathed out, your chest tightening making it harder and harder to breathe.

He didn’t look that convinced and placed a hand on your shoulder. You flinched at the sudden contact and nausea brewed in your stomach as he lead you to one of the chairs situated around tables scattered throughout the library.

“It’s okay,” he repeatedly stated as his hand rubbed your back.

“I don’t even know you,” you squealed, panic laying even heavier on you.

“My name is Vash Zwingli,” he calmly said before asking, “What’s jour name.

You stuttered out your name in response as your head started getting lighter and lighter.

“I need jou to breath out for two seconds and then in for two, and then I need jou to increase it to four and then six and so forth,” Vash said his voice starting to sound as if you were listening throughout a tunnel.

You started to breathe in.

One.

Two.

And out.

One.

Two.

You noticed that Vash was doing it as well, and one of his hand clasped at yours squeezing in time with each of the seconds.

One.

Two.

Three.

Four.

The overlying feeling of panic started to ebb away and your body slowly relaxed. The black in your vision dwindling away as your breath began to even out with the breathing exercises. The tightness in your chest loosened and the nausea went away.

“How do jou feel now?” he asked, his startling green eyes piercing into yours.

Shame seeped through your body at your weakness, your parents seemed so disgusted with you the last time it happened that you promised that it would never happen again.

“Don’t feel ashamed for it,” Vash squeezed your hand that was still entwined with his, “it vasn’t jour fault.”

You didn’t quite notice during it but he was quite handsome.

“I’m feeling a lot better now,” you said, your annoying stutter gone as it was swept away with the panic, “thank you for helping me.”

“It was nothing,” he brushed your thanks aside, “I vas happy to help.”

His eyes suddenly averted from yours as a blush spread across his cheeks. He pulled a worn piece of paper out of his pocket and scribbled something on it.

“Here’s my number if jou vant to ask me anything,” he handed it to you.

“It can be for anything,” he continued, “if you need to ask something, or just simply hang out.”

“Of course,” you replied, a blush appearing on your face as well as he walked away.

You pressed the book that you had picked out to your chest.

“I’ll keep that in mind.”

.....I really do have social anxiety, and get panic attacks.....
Let's just say, it sucks.
I was at a store with my friend, and she left her umbrella. She had done all the talking, and asked me to ask if one of the store-people if they had seen it. I was walking up, when I started panicking.... Let's just say I had a major freak-out.... That caused a lot of attention...

When I first read it, it was mostly because of the cool cover. I'm glad that I spontaneously picked it up as I really enjoyed it.

I'm glad, I am always concerned about messing up personality on this project. Especially since these are a lot shorter and less thought out as my oneshots as I have to write a whole lot based on the same theme.

Thank you for your comment.

Well I think you caught the more calm, peaceful side to him he shows towards Liechtenstein in a lot of the anime. I seriously commend you for being able to do it! o3o

And no problem, my dear. Hard work deserves praise! ^u^

I just thought he would be more gentle with a women having a panic attack right in front of him rather than the harsh façade he shows to Italy.

But then Italy does run across his yard in the middle of the night completely naked.

But I thought that is how he would react and treat reader in the situation at hand.

I agree with you, I think he would be more gentle towards a woman in that particular situation. He doesn't strike me as a man who would attack unless provoked, as Italy does. It is an excellent study of character you have here!

To explain Switzerland's adorableness would be to tear a hole into the space time continuum.

Thanks for doing this one~  (I requested it)

And you're not the only one who thinks Switzerland has a First Aid certification, his country is home to the first red cross organization.

I was always going to have Reader have a panic attack but Switzerland was originally going to know what to do because Lichtenstein has them from being adopted from a not so suitable house.

But I ending up deciding to just do the First Aid thing.

But that might have been the reason he got the certification.

hmmm, I'll have to keep that in mind for both Liechtenstein's ending and Switzerland's second part.
