Yes, I'd noticed that you used it and I wondered if I should still use it but decided that our works were different enough not to matter. I've had this background in my files for months waiting for the right manip. The cutting out took me ages as the window design was so complicated but it was worth it in the end. Doing the lighting is always my favourite part of manipulation because everything else is in place, you're happy with the composition and then bam!, the lighting brings it to life. I use blend modes a lot, multiply or overlay, and different levels of opacity. I also use textures. Sometimes I'll just paint some light on in a blend mode layer such as I did for the candlelight and the moonbeams coming in the window.Then I'll do some final touches with dodge and burn. Burn didn't work for the shadows under the objects in the windowsill (as the rock was too light) so I copied parts of the dark rock and erased sections around each object. Each manip has its own series of steps and I don't ever do each one completely the same.
