It's the end of Act I ... finally! XD
McCoy's little five-point diatribe is me condensing several paragraphs of the original into as short a form as possible for web comic purposes, plus adding the bit about being armed on a hunt on my own. You might argue some of these, but please keep in mind that McCoy is coming from this based on his own past hunting experiences plus what he knows about Spock personally.
I can use a neck pinch ... - Dead giveaway right there, pardon the pun. If Spock were going to kill the owltiger with his bare hands, he would use the tal-shaya, a deadly Vulcan martial arts move to swiftly break the neck (TOS "Journey to Babel"). Vulcan neck pinches are always used to render the target being unconscious. This is even stated in the original short story. "I can use a neck pinch to render it unconscious ...."
It is the mok-farr, the time of remembrance - As stated in the original short story itself. Yes folks, it looks like we're about to be entertained with yet another of those "crazy" Vulcan rituals ... but wait a minute? Didn't Spock already do something like this as a boy with the khas-wan in TAS "Yesteryear?" Stay tuned!
This is why I used the "T'Pring" end-of-BGM stinger to emphasize the moment; that is, us the audience suddenly being taken to virtual Vulcan-land again (chuckle). You remember that particular moment in TOS "Amok Time," don't you? "She is ... T'Pring ... my wife." O_O Trying for something of the same effect here musically.
