Luba is probably the most famous of the MCL girls. Hm I WONDER WHY. This character was in Playboy, hence the crude nod on the shirt.Probably my favorite of the coloring I've done lately. I am experimenting with Photoshop CS3. I've been uploading recent drawings in PNG-24 for quality - sorry about the slightly longer load times but jpg doesn't really work for these bold blocks of color.
I've been looking a lot at old cartoon art for inspiration, Betty Boop and such, and I wanted to try drawing some girl art with a stronger line of action, so I did a very exaggerated lean here. It makes the proportions a little wonky. I don't normally draw boobs that shape, but it's Luba so you kind of HAVE to.
Her full name is Luba Licious. I didn't find that out until I saw it in a text book, of all places.

But more seriously, the first thing that caught my attention here was the expression. Your previous work has always been...it's technically accurate, certainly, but I always got this feel like you were afraid to color outside of the lines a little, really show off what the drawn medium can do for expression. In some cases, this helps improve realism, but I'm glad you're activly experimenting with letting some of your art pick up more stylized...or, hell, "cartoony" if you want...traits.
Having a broader perspective is always a good thing, and I really think it shows how much your ability to show emotion in your drawings has improved. I'm looking forward to seeing where your art goes next!

Thanks! I'm going a little more cartoony lately for the style of some things I have to do so it was good practice. Oddly showing people how to draw is making me better at it too.

Hah, thanks. There needs to be a proper name for that. Once I saw someone call it 'recolletage.' It seems to exist primarily in video games. I think it would kind of be uncomfortable in the real world.

The "recolletage" term comes out of a Something Awful Fashion SWAT thing.
It does mostly come up in either video games or undersized tanktops, tho.
