Talk about irony. America, land of the free, free speech, freedom of the press, freedom of religion. And yet, someone says something and gets arrested for it. Interesting.

very very powerful, touching and sad. the letter by Mike Prysner is very very moving as well. I do see the irony everyone else seems to see too...a police officer arresting a man who serves their country. it does not make sense but it makes me think.
I hope in the future there will be no wars, that it will all end. of course, that's only a child's dream and now i'm a young adult, i know better.

The only thing odd about this photograph is the message it pushes. Why should I have faith in my country and the elected leaders of it when they allow police to place its own defenders under arrest?

There are so many things I could say about this photo and the letter, but really the photo says it all for me.
Do you think we have any chance to salvage what little dignity our country has left?

OK, Danny, I viewed the entire collection, and this one is, by far, the best. Another example of amazing photojournalism.

Both the picture and Mike's letter are extremely moving. I only wish congress wasn't so stagnant and unable to stop the war.
Passions are swelling, but the administrations heart is still stone cold and set for an ambiguous "victory" that will occur in an ambiguous amount of time.

I went to an anti-war protest in Ft. Worth a few weekends ago. There was hardly anyone there. Cindy Sheehan spoke and some Iraq veterans against the war (they were the best). It was great to be there, it just felt like it didn't matter. The dem congress is being hesitant, it sickens me that they are doing this because they feel like it will benefit them politically. The people are becoming lax, frustrated, and the soldiers are exhausted.
We need indictment, impeachment, and imprisonment for Bush and Cheney. Then it will feel like a shred of justice has happened for all the blood that has been spilled. Honestly, it still wouldn't make me happy. I wish Iraq had never happened. Thats why I can't trust Hillary even though she's a tough woman and I have always wanted a woman to be president. I can't trust her for her confidence she put into Iraq. Its just so sad. I feel so much sorrow, and sometimes that pain feels solitary. I've been in the car sometimes listening to a radio report and suddenly I hear "130 Iraqi civillians were killed today in a car bomb in northern Iraq" I just start to break down and cry. I just say "Why God?"
Even with all that passion I feel, I can be just as ambivilent to pressuring my congress people as they nexy girl or guy. I'm in school right now and I have other things to do. Sometimes I get to busy to even spend time with my family. So its all encompassing. Yeah I blame Bush for a lot of it, yeah I'm blaming congress for their lack of action, yeah I'm blaming myself for my lack of grassroots action....But thank you for doing what you can with what you have and going out there and taking these photos. Maybe in the history books they'll have some of those pictures with a subtitle that says "Some of the people tried"
Thats my very long two cents.
Scarlett
