This is an awesome tutorial..

I mean I've seen others using the displacement map and this may sound a little stupid but when I use the displace filter.. nothing shows up..

Any ideas why nothing happens after I've used the filter?

Great work again man. I always think I am so proficient with Photoshop and yet everytime I watch a tutorial by you, I come away with at least one or 2 new tricks I never knew about before!!!
Keep it up! The entire design community thanks you for it.

cool bro...yeah..had a request..something I have tinkered with just never used..lol There are some very complicated ways to use these with alpha channels though...thats kind of a basic but a neat trick.

These tutorials are great because there's always a nice tip or trick gleaned from them! I've used displacement maps before and always puzzled about the horizonal/vertical numbers... this tut helped with that...

DigitalPhenom In reply to hi-liter [2007-02-08 03:46:52 +0000 UTC]

oh cool man..im glad that it helped you.. After I done that I got really into the advanced methods of using them with alpha channels..lol way to long for a video I think. Maybe if I get better with it.

i have a question on this tutorial? well here it goes...you've used photoshop,(i mean the word no the product) and added the reflection....can this process work on images...like let's say i wanna do an art on batman walking, on aw water..for example. Can i follow these steps to make a reflection of him on the water?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DigitalPhenom In reply to commanderlewis [2007-02-07 22:32:26 +0000 UTC]

oh for sure...you can do it on anything...just use your blending levels to adjust the image to your likings...i ust used text because it was quick..lol

DigitalPhenom In reply to kcmanc [2007-02-07 20:59:59 +0000 UTC]

oh yes....I have seen that tut...its a rather advanced method of using a dmap. Its a good tut except you have to read through all of his BS jokes and try to stay focused on the tutorial. It also involves alpha channels which is another ball game. I really wouldn't recommend trying to do that one until you get a little more familiar with PS...It just involves a lot more then Dmaps.
