Description
Inspector Gadget faced one of the best cartoon villains ever, Dr. Claw. Unfortunately he was ruined by DiC when they released a godawful toy of him.This is somewhere along the lines of what I feel Dr. Claw should have looked like (if there had ever been need for seeing him).
Ink on paper, traced in flash, coloured in photoshop.

I think the toy version was also canonized by the Super NES game and a mobile game.

Yeah, the toy looks too idiotic for someone of his caliber.
This one is what I picture what he'd look like. That and a shadowy demon face like that of obscured Hades from Mazinger.

Great design! I pictured him differently as a kid, a little more "monster-like", but it's still an awesome look! This one at least looks better than the actual action-figure's face.

I remember a dream i had, my school bus got took over by a man with Dr. Claws voice, he had an old face with grey eyes, he didn't say who he was, he just kept us and the teacher captive. Then when we threw him off the bus, and drove away fast, he sent a tornado after us, then laughed as we were killed.

Very slick, but I agree that the face the toy gave him did not match Frank Welker's menacing voice. For some reason I pictured Dr. Claw being real bug eyed with razor teeth. Its how he sounded.

This I could believe as the actual face of Dr. Claw. I always thought, that since his voice was so deep, he had some form of surgery on his throat or he was a smoker, when the cameras weren't on him of course, or both and a special vocalizer was installed which made his voice dark and almost mechanical

i haven't seen that show in years, nor did i ever see the toy. but that is a freakin supervillain. Between the robotic prosthetics and the malevolent look in his eye, this is a true Villain. The colors are excellent, as is the overall quality of the picture (pity they won't do a remake of the show, this should be the Dr. Claw they use)

I can dig that. Seeing that action figure was like the first time you ever saw Darth Vader unmasked. "WHAT? You mean you're NOT a seven-foot burly black cyborg? You're in fact a squishy little white man in a shell? YOU ARE NOTHING BUT AN OREO COOKIE, DARTH VADER."

This depiction is quite a radical depature form his action figure look and I think it actually fits him quite well... I can certainly picture this man grinning and asking the scientist in the Amazon jungle episode "surely you don't mean ME!?" in refernce to the person who's spirit could be infused into the intentionally flawed robots the scientist has created for Claw in order to make them battle ready...
I think this look is about the closest I've ever seen anyone come to making Claw look "right"... Unlike his weedy action figure look, this picture depicts him as being a large, well built, but aging man with a malevolent but highly intelligent look in his eye (something I always expected of Dr. Claw)...

A dream I had in which Dr. Claw showed his face was probably just as bad, in my dream his face looked mummified (or like the Michelin Man with alot more horizantal lines) with glowing yellow eyes...and he was invading a Hawaiian resort

Personally, I never felt Dr. Claw could've looked human with a voice like his. I kind of imagined him to have a black skull of a face with yellowy eyes.
