Before you all go typing that now Inkoliss is not an interesting character or this is all a cop out, let me just say this: THIS DARKNESS INSIDE INKOLISS IS NOT A COP OUT, PLOT ARMOR, CHEATING, OR ANYTHING THAT TAKES AWAY FROM HIS CHARACTER. Okay, back to the “darkness” thing. This is a part of Inkoliss’ backstory, but the “darkness” does not affect him in the real world/ on Earth.He is free of it as we see him in the comic.
So, what is it? The darkness is something that takes control and changes Inkoliss’ entire demeanor. He has no control of when it’ll strike. He has a strong suspicion that the Devil himself is causing them, but spoiler alert, he has nothing to do with it XD
Typically, the darkness targets Inko (the tiny lil blob next to him), but neither of them know why. When Inkoliss goes under, Inko will usually run away for his own safety, but this time, Inkoliss didn’t move. He just continued to sit on the ledge, and so Inko sat with him. Inko’s touch is the thing that breaks Inkoliss out of it.
Also, no: Inkoliss did not get the idea to be the antagonist of DI from the darkness. He came up with that on his own. As he laments in the next page, the darkness was helping him plan it this time, but it didn’t gave him the idea originally. Which part did the darkness plan out? Boris’ death. Inkoliss knew he’d need to do SOMEthing with Boris if Bendy didn’t agree the first time, but he wasn’t sure what would be dramatic enough to get Bendy to agree. He never thought of killing Boris himself, the darkness did, and Inkoliss said “that’s a good idea. I hate it, but okay.” He WAS just planning to killjJoey, and now you all know why.
You can tell when Inkoliss is subject to the darkness when his dialogue bubbles start turning black, the whites of his eyes turn black, and the pupils are reduced to tiny slits. The pupils may do this when he isn’t affected, so watch out for the other two signs first. They’re more important anyways XD
If you have any more questions about the “darkness,” ask them. I’m very willing to disclose this info, as it is pretty damn important.
Oh! Also: Remember when Inkoliss had a “mental breakdown” after signing the contract with Joey? That was the first case of the darkness taking over, just for a brief time. It didn’t do anything there, but the contract is a lot more important than you think, for many, many reasons.

DI Part 4 Page 11 TranscriptINKOLISS: This is it. I have them right where I want them. As soon as Joey gets ready for bed, I’ll be able to make my move. They are close enough as a family that a sudden change would affect them all deeply, even the Butcher Gang. Once I infiltrated the family, they’d begin to have fear. They’ll be wary and afraid, and the longer this goes on, the more scared they’d get. Then, they’ll take a stand. I will rip the pedestal away from them as effectively and as painfully as possible. Their fear would return, but oh, so much worse. That would leave the perfect opportunity to get to him. Bendy. The contract says that I’ll have two weeks to occupy Joey’s body. Fourteen days. That should be more than enough. Once Bendy was scared enough, he’d latch on to any scrap of hope he had, as in the cartoons, the solution always fell out of the sky. He’d be trusting. The little ink buddy is tiny so cute!!! AHHH! He's the only thing that didn't scare me in this page!

For real though, sweet! I was aiming to put y’all on edge while reading this page, and I now know I’ve done it. And trust me, Inkoliss has done some creepier things while being controlled by the darkness.
As for the Boris crying in death with Inkoliss’ red eye panel, that one’s my personal favorite. I really like how the eye came out, and showing them together like that is almost like a yin/yang type deal, but with the balance being thrown off (Boris’ death), which just makes the whole thing more unnerving.
And trust me, we ain’t done with the spookiness just yet...

Yeah I don't know what you done to make it more spooky, but it gotten spookier ;u; I thought Inkoliss was an odd demon that he wasn't so demonic and was failing at being so evil. But geez. Murder is evil.

...No? Kinda? In a way? If the darkness affected him in the real world, then Bendy would most definitely be in trouble, but it doesn’t. No one is forcing Inkoliss to do what he’s doing. Which is where a lot of his hesitation and guilt comes from (which I’ve hinted at several times
Inkoliss is not protecting Bendy in any way. He is the problem. He is the villain. There’s no getting around it. He made choices. He has to stick with those choices. Inkoliss knows this, which is why when he speaks of killing Joey to conceal the evidence, he talks about being a true demon and how “everything will be easier.” It’s why he was so excited when he attempted to kill Joey in Part 2. He made his first kill, which meant that it should be easier from here on out. And lo and behold, it is.
I have to stop myself before I spoil the story. XD

Inkoliss is sitting not too far away, talking with a tiny blob of ink that must be Inko. Inkoliss spoke of him highly when you’d first met. They were good friends.
You were too far away to hear what this Inkoliss from the past was saying, but you could tell that he hadn’t met you yet; Inko seemed to be his only friend.
They hadn’t noticed you or Alden yet.

Suddenly, Inkoliss stands up. He starts walking away, then stops. He hesitates. He looks back at Inko, and they exchange a kind of silent conversation. Inkoliss rushes back and gives the tiny creature a hug. This is a goodbye of some kind. If you were going to talk to him, now would be a good time.

Inkoliss: *jumps* Oh... *sighs* Of course he’d send somebody right as I’m trying to leave. Alright, inspector, ya new? I don’t recognize ya. Well, there’s literally nothing here but Inko and I, and soon, not even that! There, did your job for you. You can leave now. And also, yes. I am.
Inkoliss turns and sits back down on the ledge, getting comfortable.
Inkoliss: Well, I assume you’re not here to say hello. What do you want? And what’s with that expression? You look like you were expecting something else. I’m that much of a disappointment, am I? I thought everyone knew that already. Was that something Luci forgot to tell you, or...?
Why is he acting so weirdly? The Inkoliss you know seems a lot less laid back and more serious, more down-to-earth. He has more self-worth than this one. This Inkoliss seems like he doesn’t have a care in the world. This... IS just the past, isn’t it?

Inkoliss: *sits up* ...Wait. You don’t serve him, do you? I thought only the Devil’s closest advocates could come here... you’re in trouble. If anyone sees you talking to me, you could be executed. You might get let off with a warning, or tortured, or exiled, I don’t know, but it’s dangerous here. *blinks, cocks head* Why did you come here? Was... ohhh, I think I get it. You want to know how I created life, don’t you? Well, as long as you’re okay with the possibility of getting caught, there’s no harm in it.
Inkoliss gestures over to Inko, calling him closer. The little blob is surprisingly fast and nimble, zipping up Inkoliss’ arm in the blink of an eye and coming to rest on his shoulder, perched like a parrot.
Inkoliss: Well, fire away. Ask me anything you want.

Inkoliss: ...I beg your pardon? Bendy is... doing fine. Up on the surface. With his family. Why?
(This timeline takes place 13 days before the start of DI, which makes this 18 days ago. Inkoliss has not yet taken control of Joey, and so has no clue what you’re talking about.)

Of course North Korea was insanity threat against the world, But we need built the ink recruits for the battle or war. If communists will go after the countries, We can save everyone.
