Description My favorite science boi before he became *spoilers*!

So, yes, I made the blue streak very obvious, but that’s because I believe in Moon!Varian.

SPOILERS BELOW, TANGLED THE SERIES THEORIES

Ok! So, in “Queen for a Day,” we find out that this man used a combination of science and magic to take away this giant winter storm and banish an evil warlock. We learn that this machine he built exists, and use it to get rid of the storm, right? Ok, keep that in mind.

The scroll was talking of how the sun produced the Sun Drop Flower, while the moon created the weird black rocks. The Sun Drop is no longer the flower, but instead, Rapunzel. When the magic is activated, her hair glows. She’s the sun. Where’s the moon?

Well, for one, it’s the rocks. But, they’re still a physical object, like the Flower was. The Flower became a human (Raps) through human interaction (the King cooked it up into a stew of the Queen to save hers and Raps’ life). The Moon has yet to take a human form.

Or has it?

The blue streak in Varian’s hair? That’s not natural. Everyone except Rapunzel and Varian have naturally colored hair (minus weird sword lady in Season 2, the one with a half red face and white hair). They also have freckles, which has been confirmed to be a rare trait in Coronans. One deals with magic, the other deals with science.

I believe a few things might happen.

For sure, we find out that the blast from the Moonstone into Quirin has affected him, making his son magical. This mirrors the events in Tangled PERFECTLY. The same happened with the Sun Drop Flower going into Queen Arianna to save her life.

We’ll see a connection between Varian and the rocks, a magical connection. The rocks have yet to reckon with Varian’s magic that he has yet to realize he has.

This magic will include something along the lines of him manipulating the rocks somehow. Recall Raps’ dream, where her father told her to stay in Corona, but then Varian yelled from behind her. He raced to her father, who became an amber statue, and Varian swears revenge. Here’s the important part: he runs at her with the black rocks sprouting up next to him as he went.

Here’s a question I haven:t seen floating about the Internet: why did the rocks attack Old Corona so profusely? It’s revealed that they were following Rapunzel, so why OC? Well, because that’s where Varian lives. Think about it. The rocks brought Varian and Raps together. They gave Raps her hair back, which prompted her to go in search on answers. That brought her to Varian. They are both tools needed to restore balance.

Varian is a man of the dark- he turned to revenge and sprouted from the rocks.

Rapunzel is a woman of light- she turns to diplomacy and brings smiles to everyone’s faces. She was born of light.

Here’s what I believe could happen:

1) Varian and Ruddiger (his raccoon) escape jail. They search out Rapunzel. Upon finding her, Varian finds he cannot lay a hand on her to hurt her, a t least, not directly. Her hair will protect her or some kind of force field will keep a knife from penetrating her heart. He’s driven off. Later, the darkness continues to clash with the light, and Varian must defend himself. From what, idk. But, it!s here we see him use his magic for the first time.

Let me point out something: we’ve never seen Varian directly defend himself before. In “What the Hair,” Cassandra saves him from being crushed. He’s either protected or fanboying over whatever is attacking him (the giant megatron in the castle’s way to the Sun Drop Flower). Now, he must defend himself for real, and he does something cool. 👍🏻

He wants an explanation. He’s a man of science, magic wasn’t real! He’d feel himself drawn back to Raps, to ask for advise, but knows he can’t. So he either kidnaps her or nothing happens. If he kidnaps her (and receives nothing) Eugene and Cassandra would rescue her and become wary or Varian.

Toward the very end of the series, Raps and co are facing the final boss, possibly that warlock from before. Varian has been feeling more and more soft towards the group over time, and has now decided to make amends. He seems the foe and, going with his gut, he sends it a VIP pass to Hell. This is his redemption, and either is left weak or dies. I wouldn’t put it past Disney to kill him off.

2) The kingdom has received word of the approaching darkness and purposefully sets Varian free, but really they just bring him with them to find Raps and co. He grows friendly to them once again, and, again, sacrifices himself to save their lives.

3) he escapes jail himself and/or runs off on the guards to plot. He accidentally discovers his magic and uses it to attack the group constantly, but first, he goes back to his father. It doesn’t free him. This further fuels his rage. He might be the final boss, pitted against HIMSELF, battling to turn himself around and correct the errors of his ways. Idk how that would end.

Either way, Varian will most likely be killed, either by the castle’s orders, or by his own sacrifice. I believe in his sacrificing himself, for that would be the most honorable death and best redemption, plus most interesting. Maybe he lives, though, and YAY! it’s another happily-ever-after! I would love that ending, but I don’t see it happening.

OH! Also! Quirin gets freed when the light and darkness are banished (?) from the earth. Raps looses her hair again, Varian looses his magic, and the rocks go away. This takes their indestructibility from the amber, either freeing him or making it drill-able. Either way, he’s free.

No matter what happens (or has happened, I’m behind), I’ll be along for the ride.

Now I just gotta catch up...

Hi, nice to see you again!

I love this! I like how you really captured face and look of determination. Yeah, I can honestly see Varian sacrificing himself for his redemption. But I'm still hoping Disney won't kill him off.

Just let this boy have his happy ending!

Nice to see you, too!

Thank you so much!

Yes. He’s been through a lot, dang it. Let him be happy. ):

Hey, did you hear there are only three episodes left?

Also I heard on Tangled Talk, that Rapunzel might get betrayed again on the season 2 finale. But this time, it might be from Eugene or Cassandra!

Also, I really doubt that Varian has moon powers. He doesn't believe in magic but I do believe he will become an ally again. Rapunzel's magic and Varian's science. Like Lord Demanitus.

Hey, have you heard about the Dark Prince Eugene theory. What do you think about that?

ONLY THREE-
No, I didn’t. That is... shocking, to say the least.

That would be interesting. I kinda would expect it from Eugene more than Cass, but at the same time, that might be why they make Cass betray Raps.

Maybe. I definately believe that Varian is involved in the legend, and it will come true again, and if so, it will take teamwork to stop the snowstorm once again. Weather or not Moon!Varian will be a thing is debatable, but I thoroughly believe he will be there for the finale.

No, I haven’t. What’s that? :0

Yup, the season finale is on April 14th, two weeks from now.

Yeah. Although, I kind of surprised if it was Eugene considering their marriage. In fact a lot of people are speculating that Cassandra and Rapunzel's relationship is dwindling and will eventually snapped. Plus there's going an episode called Cassandra's Revenge in season 3, so there's that.

Yeah, that's true. Plus, I heard Varian going to be in most episodes in season 3 from Disney site. Maybe if Eugene or Cassandra do turn bad he'll become part of the main cast.

A lot of people think that Eugene is the son of king Edmund. I really don't believe because there's not much evidence but who knows?

WOOOT!

Interesting... Wonder what that’s all about...

Awesome! Can’t wait to see the boi again ^^

Yeah, that seems like a stretch. By that logic, it could be Varian, too.
WAIT WHAT IF THEY’RE BROTHERS?!

As much as I’m joking, I wouldn’t put anything past Disney. Any of those theories are just as likely as others, even if there is less evidence. Misdirects, small confirmations, “hidden” foreshadowing... it’s all a manipulation that is just classic storytelling...

Hello again!

I’m positive that the traitor is either now Cassandra or Adira. But we won’t know for sure until Sunday.

Also, you know how I mentioned the dark prince Eugene theory. Yeah, I never liked the theory because it’s a bit of a stretch. But like you said it’s Disney, so if it’s true, who cares? He’s still Eugene.

AGREED. I just got caught back up 100%, and I agree, it’s Cass. The way she got locked in that room by herself in Yesterday’s Tomorrow was important somehow, and she probably saw something there.

Maybe she and Varian could work things out after all...
In the dungeons, that is...

True. No matter what happens, Eugene is Eugene. Suddenly knowing he has a higher stature won’t change anything, at least, not to Raps or the audience. We’ll have to see how the story continues from there.

Hey do you think that Cassandra and Varian might be controlled by that evil warlock next season? I think it's possible and plausible theory.

What do you think?

Dimonds456 In reply to Jlattany1 [2019-04-14 00:49:57 +0000 UTC]

That very well could be. They both have power he’d want in his control, and it wold make for an interesting storyline to see where that goes.

Hmm... probably more likely than not, depending on how S2 ends.

Yeah, Cassandra's brawn and Varian's brains. A perfect combination.

Yup!

Great! 😊

Maybe. I heard someone say, that Varian would be a secondary antagonist next season on YouTube. But it's just speculation it hasn’t been confirmed yet. I hope it’s not true, and if it is, it's because of Zhan Tiri. I also expect him to be redeemed before the series is over or else!

Agreed. Eugene is Eugene, no matter what.

Same! I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again; Varian didn’t deserve any of what happened to him and was forced to play the villain! If he does not get redeemed, we storm up to the studio productions TTS and PROTEST!

Yeet. 😎

You know I keep wondering what's on that note Quirin wrote to his son. I feel as though it's important to the story. Don't you?

Yes!

And if they do decide to kill him, they better do it with respect and tact. They better do it with him as an ally and not a villain. I want him to go out with a BANG! I want tears and heartfelt emotions from everyone.

Yup!
