alright, so *kodriak is holding a really neat contest, about illustrating an emotion from a quote that has to be 3-5 words long. it's REALLY DIFFICULT finding a quote that short to use, but when I realized this qoute ("Your true colours are beautiful") fit it, I was hit with inspiration and really wanted to draw this, so ... I did. I guess the emotion in this image, if anything, is hope. I don't think I'll submit this as an entry .. at least not yet (the deadline's in december lawl) because I don't think the emotion is strong enough, but if nothing else I might submit it for the contest later.in any case, I had a good time drawing this. C:
THOSE TREES ARE SO JOHN BAUER INSPIRED OHYES cause john bauer-trees are easier to draw than normal trees ahahah.. yeah. he drew some really cool stuff though, I think I'm going to look into his art a bit more.

oh and the quote is from the song True Colors (originally for cyndi lauper, but covered by a zillion peoples and I listen to the ane brun-version) (also colours is spelt with a 'u' in pff silly americans)

I'm glad you decided to enter.
There is a quote from a song that I love, one that is similar to this. If I were to enter my own contest (or even better, another that is like it) I would be using that quote. "Colours that you shine."
I think this piece has a ton of force behind it, and it can be interpreted in many ways. I'm feeling an uplifting aura.
I'm totally digging the contrast between the dark and gloomy background and the colourful wolf silhouette. That looks great.
I'm going to update my journal with an extension, because the deadline totally creeped up on me and I have a ton of stuff to do in the meantime. And I think people may appreciate a little extra time because the holidays are busy times.

ah, that's beautiful. I get about the same feeling from those words as 'your true colours are beautiful', but your quote has a much nicer wording, I think. (:

Tyckte du sa förut att du inte kunde rita träd. Den här blev ju fett bra. John Bauer var faktikst det första jag kom att tänka på. Jag gillar djupet, de mörka kontrasterna och de ljusa prickarna längs stammarna, de gör att de liksom träder fram ur mörkret, diset och dimman stärker också känslan.
Är det där en liten sjö? Näckros blad och mossiga stenar?
Väldigt mysig känsla.

jag kan inte rita träd. xD eller rättare, jag kan rita trädstammar - vilket är anledningen till att det här ser bra ut - grenar och trädkronor och grejer, det klarar jag inte av. D:!

and yess it's sliiightly glowy! I didn't want the edges to be too hard, so hence the teeny shine c: and then there's some subtle shine all over just to ground it in the background a bit more n_n thanksss yes~

tycker inte att känslan kommer fram, jag blev lite wtf:ad av att hunden var regnbågig innan jag läste kommentaren, kopplade inte på något sätt... jag skulle gilla det bättre om det bara var en färg som var ljusare och lös, men då skulle väl inte quoten funka.

I think the thing I love most is the contrast between the wolf and the background. The wolf is so...rainbowy and colourful and then the trees are kinda..darker and a little forboding, maybe. You got his style down so well toooo. Especially the little lighter bits of brown dotted around them and the tallness and roundyness of them. Are those boulders maybe sekkrit trolls too?!
Also the wolf's anatomy is amazing, yes. You definitely pulled off those legs superawesomely ahaha <3 I love the pose and how delicate and balancedy it is, almost floating and looking back at the trees. Those ears are winsome. It almost reminds me of the Last Unicorn. <3
And of course, I looove that song. And the way you drew to it just fits so perfectly and like..the feeling of a hope, and acceptance, I guess. You show that so well with thethe contrastyness yesyes. And the position of the head looks hopeful too -is not sure if that's possible but still-
