Background/Personality:
The titular Lucky Star had her eyes set on a flying career when she was old enough to admire her mom, Rainbow Dash. Being the best pegasus in the sky was something she had a taste for… Lucky swept through Equestria as being Rainbow Dash’s prodigy and ponies were excited to see where she would go next. But on one fateful, horrible day... the young filly lost her wings due to an accident that ravaged many ponies at the Rainbow Factory. Her wings were unsalvageable and Lucky was nothing but devastated and spiralled into a deep depression for many years of her young life.
Always a good student, Lucky Star immersed herself into school - especially math and science. She was a whizz at both and always had the highest grades in her class. The young filly had an interest in engineering and the drive to make machines less dangerous for ponies. Magic for machines became less and less needed due to the strain it had on the ponies making them work. Oil and gas became more popular in usage all over Equestria and Lucky wanted to know everything about those topics.
Lucky Star knew she was smart, and never shied away from taking the limelight from other ponies to one up them. Despite not having her wings, she was still the daughter of Rainbow Dash and that brash Dash attitude was passed on. Depression has been something that plagued her mind but she refused to let others know she was suffering. As an adult, Lucky has a job as an engineer and works away from home. She left right after she graduated. The small pony is cocky, commanding and sarcastic. She suffers from a big dose of Napoleon Complex and will never let ponies that her lack of wings has left scars within her psyche. She has a love for the ocean and it’s creatures and diving - and is finding ways to make extraction of oil more friendly towards the environment.
Relationships:
Derpy Hooves: The two are very close. Lucky Star always found Derpy to be more easy to get along with, especially after she lost her wings. Derpy Hooves made it her life mission to make sure her little filly was happy and knew she was still important and wonderful, even without her wings. The grey pony was there for Lucky even when others were not... a lot of adults not knowing what to say or do around the filly. This was the time where the bonds between Lucky’s mom and brother became as strong and deep as bonds can go. Derpy has always been protective of her children, especially Lucky.
Rainbow Dash: When her daughter lost her wings, she didn’t know what to do. Rainbow Dash remembers the day when it happened and had nightmares for years over it. Her daughter suffered because of it, physically, mentally and socially. Lucky Star withdrew within herself and avoided her mom as much as she could despite Rainbow Dash’s protests.
Lucky knew the feelings her mom had for her changed..the side looks, the hushed whispers behind closed doors. Rainbow Dash just didn’t know how to deal with her daughter at the time and their relationship was strained for years. As an adult Lucky is a bit closer to her mom but their relationship has a lot of mending to do.
Risky Gambit: Lucky Star remembers how scared she was to be a bigger sister, thinking she would fail or be bad at it. It was just her and Dinky Doo for awhile and she assumed it would stay that way. When Gambit was born she was too fearful to hold him. Newborn foals were so tiny and fragile. It took the family awhile to get her used to the new baby and the first time she held him Lucky knew that he was the most important thing that was ever given to her.
They grew up close. The two loved flying together and promised each other to fly together as long as they had the strength to do so...so when she lost her wings Lucky was more than crushed. Not only did her promising career went up in smoke she could no longer fly with her little brother. She appreciated how supportive Gambit was but still feels the sting of not being able to join him in the sky. The two are very sarcastic together and they befundle other ponies with their dry and sort of biting humor.
Dinky Doo: Dinky is much older than both her and Risky Gambit, but he always made it his job to look after his little siblings. Lucky Star used to snuggle up to him and he would read her comic books. He is a trans stallion and Lucky Star was very supportive of his transition, though she was too young at the time to understand what he was going through.
Tank: Best tortoise. Best friend.
Sid: The mares met when Lucky was a teen, and at first they didn’t like each other. They had catty interactions which got on their teachers’ nerves when they had classes together. Sid teased a lot and Lucky has never been good at ignoring other ponies who heckled her... They also had a rivalry over who was the best student and a lot of saltiness was produced when one of them got a better grade. At the end of school they did become friends but weren’t awfully close. They actually bonded over Daring Do books! Due to being a vampony, Sid’s bite has some soothing composents to it if she is careful. Her nibbles around Lucky’s scars were one of the few things that made her relax completely and drove away the discomfort.
Johnny Gold: Lucky had a huuuuuge crush on Johnny when they were younger. He was smart, handsome and suave...and he paid attention to her, even after the loss of her wings. The attention from a colt made her feel less like a freak and he was there to make her smile. She didn’t know at the time that she was one of the few ponies he was actually nice to without wanting anything from her. It was known that as a teen Johnny was a bit of a jackass. Finding out years later she is flattered that someone with so much social clout gave her the time of day. They met through Sid and Johnny probably seemed to have a protective streak towards the small pegasus. He still does to this day.

I always liked Lucky, and I think she went through the most major changes? The RD kids’ other parent used to be Thunderlane! That’s why they had darker colors at first for those who remember. I think this design is the best, same with her brother. Her redesign was hard because I while I did like her design from 2018, I didn’t want to keep redrawing all those damn spots over and over. I’m also really I glad can finally give my characters cutie marks because she definitely didn’t have one.
Her not having wings was always a thing that was a big part of her growing up and shaped who she is...but it does not define her in the end. I don’t even know why I decided to make her have that accident and to lose her wings but I’ve never seen it done so I went with it.
Btw...relationships should be updated on the others in the future because I add/forget some characters, lol.
