Description This is the Beautiful Fruit Dove (Ptilinopus pulchellus) of New Guinea. With a crimson cap and rainbow tail, this fruit dove's bright colors rival those of a parrot. Unafraid of man, it can be seen feeding on fruits and berries in New Guinea gardens and lowland forests. Taken on 9-15-11 at the Memphis Zoo.
