Oh well, JP's still a good film (though I feel that the sequels didn't add up)

What are you talkin' 'bout, man?

The second JP so schooled the third one, the first one PWN3D it too.

Only the third one sucked.

Damn straight!

I mean, they actually tried to give the dinosaurs feathers this time, but only the male raptors got any: just a coupla pinfeathers on their heads! And a T-rex could SO take a Spinosaur.

Still it was good for a laugh. A bunch of yuppies wandering through a Mesozoic (sort of) jungle with megaphones...and the big game hunters bite it within the first half hour!

Dis bez some good shit man!

I'm glad they didn't go overboard with the feathers...hopefully the next one will keep the raptors about the same...or more like TLW ones...my favs!

Meh, I suppose you're right. It would look weird if they looked natural all of a sudden.

Still, in a way it's funny. Jurassic Park was considered scientifically accurate dino-wise when it first came out. But in the 11 years since, so much more has been learned. Hell, just 3 years ago they found those fossil beds in China that have consistently spitting out feathered therapods.

BTW, I heard recently of a new find of a small tyrannosaurid with feathers...

Wait, that's it. Spielberg could release a Jurassic Park Special Edition, using CGI to make all the dinosaurs fuzzy! And they could use an adult Dilophosaur to take out Nedry! And the Velociraptors could be life-size, unable to effectly scare the shit out of its victims!

Lol, dude the dinosaurs were no more accurate back then than they are now, it was more like "the most realistic looking dinosaurs" as in the CGI and animatronics...I mean the velociraptors were too big, had the wrong skull structure, were way too smart...rex was too fast a runner, Dilophosaurs didn't spit venom or had frills, Brachiosaurs didn't chew their food and all the dinosaurs in general had way to much wavy tail action going on (and that's just the main inaccuracies)...as for the feathers...well I can see them adding it onto the raptors but as for large predators like the rex that was probably only seen in the young because such a large animal with insulation like that in a tropical climate would overheat way to quickly.

Ostrichs? Emus? Buffalo are large yet have quite thick coats. therizinosaurids are known to have feathers and Therizinosaurus itself is the size of T. Rex and lived in a warm environment. Yutyrannus was huge and had long feathers. Gigantoraptor's relatives likely had feathers and Gigantoraptor itself is quite big. T. Rex also did not live in a tropical environment, it lived in a mild coastal open forest environment, but also had no preferences and is known in drier environments and colder mountainous environments to. So why wouldnt it have feathers?

True, the feathers have come a long way since 2004, I haven't been following dinosaurs in detail as much these past years. Thanks for the comment!

Xbalanque In reply to dinoneill [2004-12-04 03:10:25 +0000 UTC]

True, true.

But then, didn't segnosaurids have feathers? I mean, they could get pretty big too. And while you're probly right about tyrannosaurs losing most of their feathers as they matured, I could still see something like mating plumage.

Oh well, JP's still a good film (though I feel that the sequels didn't add up)

Here's to more of your screwy JP comics.

Segnosaurids were big but not T-rex size, plus they lived in colder climates from what I recall...it's possible rex could have had a feather crest but that's about it. JP is an amazing movie, TLW was fun, JP3 was...well...I miss Spielberg.
