Description Corrected, this is NOT a Yellow bellied racer, but a immature rat snake! Thanks for taking the time to tell me pitbulllady.

Found on our deck by Da. Little dummy slithered into a hollow table leg, which he would of died in if dad hadn't seen him.

~~~~~~~
Rat snakes are constrictors and feed on a varied diet of rodents, birds, frogs, squirrels, and eggs. They play an important role in many ecosystems by keeping the population of rodents (some of which are disease carriers) at a constant, low level. Therefore rat snakes are liked by farmers.
Rat snakes use their sight and their Jacobsen's organ inside their mouth to detect prey and are experts at finding and killing small rodents.
Their lifespan in the wild is up to 15 years, males living a little longer than females.
Actually, this is a baby Rat Snake, not a Racer. It looks like a young Pantherophis emorii, or Pantherophis obsoletta lindheimeri(TX Rat). Here is a close-up of a baby Racer's head for comparison; note the lack of that distinct stripe behind the eye, which is a Rat Snake feature: [link] .
I stand corrected! Thanks for taking the time to inform me.
I was wondering why it's color wasn't fading yet lol. I can definitley see the difference, and I'll remember it.
While we're on the subject, this is a racer, right?
