Your sentence "The thing is, the perfect shot happens seldom..." is very comforting and very important to me. Although, I can see that you achieved great dynamics with 35mm and 28mm, much greater than me with wider angles. This is horrible important problem for me, the real problem that I could not manage to solve.

I am not to tall (about 177 or 178 cm). I mainly shoot by looking through the viewfinder.

The thing, the higher, the better angle. If not, closer and wider (what you do). I am 1m90, this helps.

And what's worse, I live in plains, in a city without any raised spot (not even any monument or so).

Don't worry, there lots of ways to create dynamics (angle, speed, aperture,etc)
