Your work really does almost make me weep with joy.

You capture humanity at its most beautiful, but never in a contrived way.

You are a treasure.

For me is fantastic, maybe you're being to hard on yourself. I believe that you can do better, but this one is very good and you're very lucky for the honor to photograph the artist . Good work my friend, as always .

Dionisic In reply to NunoFigueira [2010-06-07 20:48:01 +0000 UTC]

You see, that would be a problem, because opinions about what is good and what is not are very different. It often happens that I like what the others do not like, and vice versa.
Also, there are different values in the photography. Some are purely formal, some related to light, and some concern the composition; some are good in the story, some are subtle and some have a stronger effect. Furthermore, some authors prefer more contrast and dark images, and some reversely...
When one exhibits his work to an audience, he must be careful not to tear himself between different tastes and to keep his course.
Big world and the dynamics of our time require mostly just something percussive and penetrating, and one does not have to fall under the influence of such requirements.
Therefore, I do not expect that I'll modulate my work to global tastes, rather than trying to find soul mates and learn about the experiences of other people.

NunoFigueira In reply to Dionisic [2010-06-07 21:02:43 +0000 UTC]

I think you're right and putting the "technical" elements apart, i think there are "audience" and tastes for everything and we, and i speak for myself, definitely should do what we enjoy, love and took pleasure with, no matter what people say to us, off course there are good advices that we should hear. Well my friend, personally love your work, is genuine and i like that. Take care

Dionisic In reply to NunoFigueira [2010-06-07 21:17:47 +0000 UTC]

Thank you!
This is the third WEB page where I put my photos. Everywhere it happens the same: people are very in the mood for criticism (mostly about few boring elements: crop/not crop; golden section, dark/light, etc.), but rarely for advices on how something can be done better, especially in the technical sense: in shooting (which lens for which composition, how many meters from subject, from which angle, which technique for which shooting motive...) and in post-processing.
Just today I had another such experience.
However, I must admit that there are gold exceptions. I have to listed him as a positive example: Viv-Leoni.

NunoFigueira In reply to Dionisic [2010-06-08 20:04:57 +0000 UTC]

i'm just an amateur who loves photography, more and more, like an addict to "brown" and yes sometimes it was nicer to receive a good advice or a valid critic but...that's ok. And you my friend feel free to critic my photos every time you want
Sorry for my english :

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Dionisic In reply to NunoFigueira [2010-06-08 20:37:16 +0000 UTC]

What is there to criticize? Nothing! All is well.
My English is also not so good to explain how I feel photography. Generally, in most of the photos of other people I am trying to find something. And in most of the photos I feel the effort of these people, and it warms my heart.
Only sometimes (but very rarely) I can feel that someone don't invests sincere energy in what he does (for instance, many Croats don't have that life energy, Eros), and then I feel sorrow, because I feel that these people are dead before they will die.
So, when fourteen-year-old child make his first photo of his dog or his garden, that photo is more valuable for me than millionth photo of professional who works well, but works by well-established patterns which no longer has any shred of love, life and curiosity for life.
