Thank you for the compliment!

Maybe. I mostly don't watch movies that were made after 1990s.

oglaend In reply to Dionisic [2010-08-15 20:26:44 +0000 UTC]

Why? Did you stop watching movies in 1990?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Dionisic In reply to oglaend [2010-08-16 07:01:34 +0000 UTC]

The reason is simple. I consider most of the recent movies poor. I think that movie truly become entertainment industry for infantile tastes, instead of being serious creation. It is a trend that emerged in Hollywood since the very beginning (as opposed to the European film), but now has reached unimaginable proportions, and infected the whole world.
During the 1980s there was a last refreshing in Hollywood (tendency to merge the quality with commerciality): for instance, impact of Actor's studio from New York, I'd say. After that the collapse of left-wing ideas and technical changes in the making of the movies destroyed everything.
This explanation is too simple, I know, but this is not the place to write a treatise on the movies.

I can see what you mean! I feel the same about Hollywood movies. Most of the movies seem that they are not made by "heart", but instead targeted to what majority would pay to watch. And every year there's a "trend-category". War/fantasy/world's end/vampires... It is kinda sickening when the movies aren't even filmed good.

Well I do like to watch movies. But I try to stick to the ones which are actually filmed good!
And there are some really good "new" European movies, also south American.

Let's not get started on music, like why does the whole Europe play American crap on radio? I mean RAP..

"You become what you eat." Same with everything else. So better stay away from "trash"

I am glad that you understand. I do believe that there are still good movies, but it is not easy to find them, and that is sad, because the vast majority of production is junk. It is sad not because of you and me, but because most people will continue to fall under the influence of such a crap.
Really, let's not start to discuss about situation in music.

Hehe, indeed!

Back to photo... Did you crop it?

And btw, do you work in a newspaper or how do you get to take so many photos?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Dionisic In reply to oglaend [2010-08-16 18:54:25 +0000 UTC]

I crop maybe just a few millimetars, because of the proportions. Really, nothing was under this boy; he just jumped on the wall.
So many photos? I always think not enough. I am amateur. I really can't explain how. I go out in the street and search for the scenes (but the town where I live is not to big, and there are no many senes). Sometimes friends or kith invite me somewhere; sometimes I just enter in place and ask can I make photos... But, as you see, these are mostly unimportant scenes; nothing significant actually is happening on them, and that is one of the reasons why I am dissatisfied with my photos.
Even the scenes on the streets are much more poor in respect to the period when I was a child. Nowadays people mostly just passing, walking.

oglaend In reply to Dionisic [2010-08-17 10:53:57 +0000 UTC]

I see. I like your style. I also barely crop my photos.
Yes so many photos. You have over 200 new deviations, while the other photographers I watch have max 20
The good thing about being an amateur is the freedom. Just I imagined because your so active that you would be working as a photographer..

I understand what you mean,,, today people just go from A to B as fast as they can. Always in a hurry.
And yea,, there must be something significant in a photo. Personally I prefer extraordinary places. When I go out in my home cities, it is as you said. Nothing significant happens, and my photos will feel dead.
But then again, "seeing" is the key, and your pretty damn good!

It is so pleasant to converse with someone who understand so easy; not to explain each detail, even we are so far away, from different cultures.
If you think that I have many photos, look at the SUDOR's gallery! He is very, very, very good author, and he has so many photos in his gallery.
You said "seeing is the key" and I really agree with you.
This what I'll say is a phrase, but it is also true: when one learn to make photos, scenes just open in front of his eyes, more and more. Also, one has to know what will he do later with the shoots. I often see the scene but I don't shoot it because I don't know how to process it later in Photoshop. Because, whatever people say, I believe that processing is necessary, either in the dark room or in Photoshop.
Today I see much more scenes that are suitable for photography than few years earlier, but still not enough. That is why I said that I don't have much photos.

Hey! Sorry late reply, went away suddenly for a long weekend.
Yes it is very pleasant, and it's funny. As you say so far away and from different cultures. Good to meet people who shares same ideas as one self, when most don't

That's a very good phrase. I agree with you. But I believe the work in taking the photo is most important. After the digital age with photoshop, the amount of "good" photographers doubled. Because people create good "photos" in photoshop alone now.
My ideal for a long time has been to edit photos the least possible way I can. And that I could do thanks to my camera But now I'm starting to see how much I can improve by processing it right.

How many good photos do you want per month?
My goal is at least 1 per month lol

I agree once more with you.
As more as I learn about the possibilities of processing, I appreciate it all the less, and I became increasingly aware of importance of shooting itself. However, the beauty of tones in the photo is still very important for me, and I have much of my photos that I don't like for that reason. I wish that I have lab technician to work for me.
How many photos per month? I'm thinking a little differently: every shoot should be good, there should not be fortuitousness in my shooting, only pure consciousness and the concentration, some kind of kendo, or bushido .

oglaend In reply to Dionisic [2010-08-27 23:49:08 +0000 UTC]

Hehe, yea I agree with you also. And a lab technician would definitely be nice.
What do you use to edit your photos?

Of course every photo you take should be... Perfect. Although that's the idea behind it
