Great portrait! Love the setting of the factory, it gives a sense of some daily hard work that must go on. The light streaming in an otherwise dingy place is great! A meaningful image captured!

Hope to see more of these. The factory calls to me somehow.

You are so kind!
I think I understand you.
When I was a child it was all about the factories, around factories, etc. Nowadays it's all about the malls. So, when I entered into this factory it was like I entered in some good old times, when work was reputable, instead of possession of material goods.

I have worked in modern factories, the feeling is not the same. The building I work in now is of that era, but the work is new.

There was an excellent photographer with this subject: Lewis Wickes Hine. Try to search him on the web!

I find this a very moving picture, Denis. The detail of the daylight filtering into the building from a direction in which the craftsman is not looking adds a symbolic resonance to the whole.

Thank you Alec!
I really think that the light (by that I mean a lot, blur, sharpness, local contrast...) is the only poetic tool in photography (composition also, of course, but it is just a rational means of communication).

Are there more factory pictures, Denis?

Very. Flickr is a site for photographers, where they often discuss issues related to the technical side of photography.
