Absolutely.
Both the common and individual should be treated with respect and benevolent aims. But, I believe that it is often used for very dark purposes. For instance, nowadays urge for individualism and strong personality is largely used to produce counter effect of massive manipulation in commercial, political and other objectives.

You are so right! And many people forget that individualism is not meant to happen at the expense of others... And that the individualism used for mass manipulation like you mentioned it does not make you stand out from others, on the contrary...
