Description
The experimental YAL-1 Airborne Laser of U.S Air Force. It was designed as an anti-ballistic missile weapons defense system to destroy incoming enemy missiles. Only one was built and unfortunately, the project was cancelled and the plane was kept in storage in the Boneyard by the 309th Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group. It was ultimately scrapped in September 2014 after all usable parts were removed.
