Description This sequence of sketches is source I used to create this original transformation design animation back in 2001-2002:

I've also posted it to YouTube, so try it there if you're having problems viewing the animation:

I used an old freeware app called "Morpher" to generate in-between frames between each of the drawings, then stitched the movies together in Adobe After Effects. Unfortunately the morphing program created a artifacts, especially between the frames where Kate is opening and closing her mouth. So, I went in and drew over each of the frames by hand to clean up the artwork in Photoshop before stitching the entire thing back together in After Effects. While the final werewolf form's design changed somewhat in the end, the overall animation holds up pretty well.

I later reworked the frames from this animation to create this finished version:

Wait until you see the retouched version... I was inspired to revisit it after posting this. Turns out After Effects runs waaay faster on my new machine, and it made completing the new version (after being on hold for 8 years) a whole lot easier. I'll probably post it at the end of the month.

Thank you! I've a retouched one coming on a future Wednesday. As I said, I have a big backlog of this stuff.

Wow! You must have aimed for a detailed sequence in terms of both anatomy and frames! I believe that you have succeeded and I believe that it will also prove useful to third-party artists who consider creating transformation sequences such as this. Very well done.

The entire point was to work out the niggling details, like "where the hell does all that hair come from?"

I did some extensive comparative anatomy studies before putting it together. Check out the bottom link in the Artist's Comments for Version 2.

Oh my gosh, this is gorgeous, in the most beastly way possible. I really admire how you've paid attention to where the hair grows. Sometimes people can't face that hard ugly truth with female werewolves, but you've done a stellar job. The expressions are great, too. Nice!
