Phew! This one was a beast!This was a commission for based on her two school mascots: a panther and phoenix (a green phoenix, hence the green feather
)This was also my first attempt at doing two horses in one image... X.X
I'm not really sure how many times I repainted all the hair... I'm still not 100% happy with it but as a whole I think it's pretty badass.

But there are several major flaws I see.
The lightning of your horses are very wrong. The lighting is more above the horses. The black horses' lighting looks ok. Could use some light change on the legs and more on the back. The smoky palomino horses' lighting is off completely. Her lighting is in the middle of her body. Her body needs to be darker in the middle and more light at the top of her back, rump, and face.
Second flaw is the lighting of the hair. Once again, the lighting on the smoky palomino is in the middle. Needs to be darker at the top of the mane for the roots, but room for highlights, and darker at the ends. The tail is perfect. The black horses' mane needs to be lighter at the ends and darker at the roots. The tail could use some lighter strands at the end too.
Third flaw is the shadow. Ok. You need to add reflection too. Shadow comes after the reflection. The shadows are over lapping each other and just doesn't look right. And the black horses' shadow doesn't even match up to his hooves. The lighter horses' shadow looks pretty dead on. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s… " width="15" height="15" alt="
Fourth flaw is the splashes. They are to small. For the lighter horse, she is moving. The splashes need to be bigger and splashing up where her legs are coming out of the water. The black horses' splashes could be a bit bigger too due to a previous movement. The splashes could be going in a slightly downward position.
Fifth flaw is your background. Nothing is blurred. Yes, the main focus is the horses, but the background doesn't say that. It really needs to be blurred in the back where the waves and sky are.
