I have been watching your work for the past 2 or 3 months, and I have to say that this piece is my favorite one. I like everything about it. It is delicate, yet appealing to the eyes. There is a lot going on in the image, but that is a good thing. It makes the viewers eyes wander all over the piece. It is the separation of hot and cold gradient that gives a 3D effect. I would like to see it slightly lighter so more details will come out, but the gradient combinations are awesome! Your use of space is excellent. I believe...IMHO that this is the best piece out of the new images. This is an outstanding piece.

First off, thank you for the critique! *grin* I appreciate it!

Second, I'm very glad you're enjoying what you're seeing. I know I'm having a blast putting these together - it's a wonderful thing to find out that others (especially others you respect!) are also enjoying them.

Third - This is a very busy piece, agreed, and it has a weak center at best. (In point of fact, there's one layer used to improve the center's draw as much as it has!) I'm more interested in being of interest to the viewer overall than to 'draw them in' to a given point on the piece with this one. It's part of the reason I chose 'mandala' for part of the name.

I'm not certain I agree with you about it being 'delicate', honestly. It has a lot of (sometimes fine) detail, but IMO those details are well reinforced by their neighbors - it's not something wispy or faint, which is what 'delicate' conjures up for me here.

The gradient is part of the fun - this is the default gradient for UF! *impish grin* The 'difference' layer property allows for massive modification of the apparent color scheme (as I'm sure you're aware). I'll freely admit that I modify the ordering of the layers to bring out specific colors or color schemes as I find them, but it's still the base gradient. Which is an interesting and fun feature in UF, in my opinion.

Thanks for the compliment on space usage! *smile* That's one area I feel fairly comfortable with.

And - I'm glad that the latest one I put up (at the time of the critique!) is the best thus far - it may show either that I got lucky with this one, or that I *am* learning something about this piece...

Thank you yet again, Debs!

This mandala is breathtakingly beautiful. I am in awe...I found your site following a link from sweetmaryfractals' site, and I am so glad I did. You all are such talented artists using this fractal medium. I aspire to become at least half as good and I will be lucky to get there! Thanks for sharing your pictures with us.
