"Kanaya what ith thith?"

"I believe the humans call it mistletoe." Kanaya said, securing the sprig of mistletoe from a hook above the door. "Rose informed me of it and I wished to employ its tactics upon us."

"Tacticth?" Sollux questioned, looking up at Kanaya questioningly.

Kanaya nodded, a small smile on her face. "The human tradition is that couples are required to kiss under it."

Sollux raised his eyebrows at the plant hanging just out of sight at the doorframe. "Uh... huh..."

"I know, it seems rather silly, but I wish to see what will end up happening."

"Nothing will happen if the otherth don't know what they're thuppothed to do," Sollux pointed out.

"Which is why I opened a memo." Kanaya said quickly, her smile breaking into a grin as she folded her hands over themselves and walked back over to her computer, looking over her shoulder.

Sollux blinked at Kanaya for a moment before sitting down begrudgingly at his computer as well.

A few hours later Sollux was surprised that it was actually working.

The first troll to be preyed upon was Tavros- Gamzee had stood under the mistletoe and yelled for the small lowblood, whom had come hurrying over with his new robotic legs. First Gamzee had hugged him before planting a tender kiss on the brownblood's lips, to Tavros' suprise and embarrassment.

The second troll to be preyed upon was Terezi- surprisingly enough, by Vriska. But it wasn't a kiss- it was a lick.

Sollux finally amended that he would stand under the accursed plant and kiss the first troll to join him under it, no matter what.

First he hoped it was Feferi, but then almost chickened out of his valiant venture when Eridan walked that way. But the seadweller soon sulked away from Sollux, to the latter's intense liking.

Sollux was beginning to wonder if any troll would walk his way when Karkat went storming past him.

Sollux lunged out and snatched Karkat's wrist, not going to go back on his silent amendment to himself and also not liking to see Karkat upset.

Karkat turned around, wiping his eyes. "W-What do you want?"

Sollux saw that Karkat was crying, cherry red tears sliding down his face. He gently pulled the troll over to him, to the latter's dismay, and put his arms around Karkat.

"What'th the matter?" He muttered in a soothing tone, sliding his hands through Karkat's fuzzy hair.

Karkat dropped his arms to his sides from their position trying to push Sollux away from him and gave in, burying his face in the troll's shirt.

Sollux stepped around the corner, taking Karkat with him and standing in the hallway against the wall to save the troll the embarrassment of crying in front of everybody.

"It'th okay KK..." Sollux assured, beginning to sway in an attempt to soothe Karkat.

"F... Fu... ck..." Karkat said in a quiet voice, grabbing a fistful of Sollux's shirt.

"KK, what happened?" Sollux asked, sliding his hands to Karkat's face and tilting his head up to look at him.

Karkat diverted his eyes away from Sollux, a small red blush coloring his face. "N-Nothing... I'm fine."

Sollux brushed tears off of Karkat's face. "No you're not. You can tell me."

"It's just... it's just... everything..." Karkat sobbed out, his voice choked with tears. He rose his hands to Sollux's, closing them around the hacker's wrists. "N-Nothing's going the way it should... It's all m-my fault..."

"No it'th not, KK." Sollux said, pressing a gentle kiss to Karkat's forehead.

"Yes it is..." Karkat insisted, hands falling away from Sollux's and grasping his shirt.

"No it'th not." Sollux repeated, drawing Karkat to his chest again.

Karkat slid his arms around Sollux's waist, tears soaking into his shirt and leaving a red stain. "I-I'm s-sorry Sollux..."

"Why are you thorry?" Sollux asked, rubbing Karkat's backin an attempt to further soothe. "You're jutht crying. No bother to me."

Karkat looked up at Sollux, taking in shuddering breaths and trying to blink his tears away. "B-But-"

"No." Sollux said firmly, silencing whatever protests or personal insults Karkat had. "Whatever you were going to thay, you're perfect. Trutht me." Sollux said with a small smile, reaching up and wiping Karkat's eyes.

Karkat stared at Sollux like he was crazy. "I'm not perfect, what do you mean I'm perfect?"

"Becauthe you are," Sollux said, smiling and glancing over to the doorframe. "Did you know what I wath thanding under?"

Karkat followed Sollux's line of sight before seeing the dark green leaf. "Wait- oh gog. Oh gog. Oh gog is that the- Oh gog."

Sollux laughed lightly before gently pressing his lips to Karkat's, making the latter blush bright red.
