I guess if the universe decides beforehand that your calling is in making pornography, and you don't get access to making pornography until you are old enough, you won't get your cutie mark. It must be a bit awkward though, you go to some sort of school reunion, everyone knows you as the kid who graduated as a blank flank, they see your cutie mark and it's a near universal "oooh... ok, I get it."
