Dex Entry - Shookid is a jubilant and joyous pokemon that absolutely loves roughhousing. This pokemon will often use its extendable vines to trip up and ensnare both enemies and trainers alike.

Creator's Notes
Name Etymology - Its name is a combination of Shoot as in a sprouting plant and the word pup as its the first form its just a puppy.
Design Inspiration - So for the grass starter, I wanted to use an iconic animal from Australia. Obviously, the kangaroo is probably the most iconic with the koala, wombat, and platypus coming in close seconds. Still, I didn't want to do a kangaroo because I've seen a lot of people use kangaroos for the grass starters in other regions and it seemed overdone to me so I did something a little different and decided on the dingo.
For those who don't know, dingos are wild dogs that live in the Outback of Australia, typically in large groups and packs. they’re sort of like Australian wolves so for this particular design I decided to give it a little bit more of a canine appearance. Obviously, he's not just a straight-up dog because…well that's boring and I didn't think it looked good so I did sort of an anthropomorphized dingo similar to mon like Lucario. I drew it with big chunky tufts of fur that give the impression of matted fur with leaves coming out of its tail to simulate that it's been running through bushes (Also cuz grass type) and long claws to kind of show off its wild side.
Its evolutions also have a gimmick to them that are more evident in its evolutions.
Fun Fact - A fun fact about the entire grass starter line is that they were all originally based on another creature, an extinct mammal known as…and I'm not joking here…the Crash Bandicoot. yes. it was named for the game character and no it didn't look anything like him. but originally I was going to do it as sort of a joke. they had a more orange color to their fur but ultimately I just decided to change it to a dingo. However, there are still a few elements from the original that I kept, namely in the final evolution’s name originally having a different meaning.
