They tried something different to probably show his growth as a person, a willingness to change and move on from the past. First it was the armor in season 4, now it is a little more armor and a practical haircut since Jaune was having to brush his hair to the side so it wouldn't be in his face.

Personally I hate the "cut hair to show growth" clichΓ©. I very much prefer longer hair in general, but that's also just a personal preference.
I understand he's growing as a character, however that haircut doesn't do him any favours. It looks terrible, like they tapped a bunch of bananas to his head.
It's just bad.

I'm indifferent at the moment. I thought it was odd at first, mostly because I'm used to seeing him with shaggy hair. Then I started to like it because someone pointed out that he has a similar hairstyle to Skull for Persona 5(never played it but he is my favorite design). Now with all the open dislike/blatant hatred of it I'm not sure they won't change it at the last minute. So like I said: indifferent

That is perfectly fair. As for me, I can admit that I can understand why some people might not like it. So for the time being, I'm indifferent to the hair change as well, and will be focusing a bit more on the character (and the hair itself could grow on me).
