Description
Twilight Sparkle is in the park stacking books on the picnic table. She introduces herself as the librarian of the public library in Viejo, California. She explains to the viewer that you can check out books at the library. She also mentions that if one is overdue and the person who checked it out does not return it, she disguises herself as "The Masked Mare Do Well" and takes the book back on time. She sings the song "The Masked Mare Do Well."

The park transforms into the town of Viejo, California. Twilight Sparkle walks into a tan building, the local library, opens the door and walks inside. She begins to stamp books at her desk when Starlight Glimmer walks into the library with a stack of books. She returns them to Twilight Sparkle and starts to sing "I Love the Library" after she compliments her on returning her books on time. She asks where the book The Case of the Chicken Pox is located because she could not find it in the fiction section.

Twilight Sparkle looks for a form saying who has the book already and realizes that June, the richest and most important person in Viejo, checked out the book last week. Twilight Sparkle is surprised when she finds out that it is overdue. She explains to Starlight Glimmer what has happened until the conversation is interrupted by the sound of June's carriage driving by. Twilight Sparkle rushes outside and tells her that her book is overdue. Coincidentally, June is currently reading the book.

June says she doesn't care that the book is overdue and briefly tells Twilight Sparkle that she will not return the book. She rides in her carriage back to her mansion. Twilight Sparkle and Starlight Glimmer begin to sing, "I'm Going To Get That Book Back." They walk back into the library, and Twilight Sparkle discusses that she will get the book back. June suggests that The Masked Mare Do Well could get the book back. When Starlight Glimmer walks behind a bookcase, Twilight Sparkle goes to her underground dressing area to dress as The Masked Mare Do Well.

June's guards, Flash Sentry and Rainbow Dash, are standing at the gate just in front of her house. Flash Sentry tells Rainbow Dash that instead of watching out for the librarian, they should watch out for The Masked Mare Do Well. Flash Sentry tells her that he is a masked guy who always gets overdue books back no matter how long it takes. Rainbow Dash goes inside to patrol as Flash Sentry walks around the house.

The Masked Mare Do Well rides on her black stallion, Black Beauty, to the house. She hides behind a corner and tells Black Beauty that she will pick her up at June's study when she whistles. The Masked Mare Do Well runs to the gate when Flash Sentry's back is turned and enters the building. He hears the gate close and walks over to it at the sight of a black checkmark. He immediately knows that The Masked Mare Do Well has entered the building.

The Masked Mare Do Well sneaks into June's study as Rainbow Dash tells her about The Masked Mare Do Well. June tells her that she does not care about the Mare Do Well and that they are leaving for Mexico that night. She calls Flash Sentry and tells him to set up the carriage and that when he enters the carriage and will order them to head for Mexico. June walks off. The Masked Mare Do Well overhears the conversation and whistles for Black Beauty so she can catch up to the carriage.

Black Beauty runs up to the window. The Masked Mare Do Well hops out and onto Black Beauty's saddle. She and the horse set off. The camera turns to June in the carriage. She looks out the window and spots the Masked Mare Do Well riding on Black Beauty. She yells for the guards to make the carriage's horses run faster. Rainbow Dash and Flash Sentry do so. The Masked Mare Do Well sings a reprise of "The Masked Mare Do Well," then jumps onto the two horses and stops the carriage from going anywhere.

June grabs her book and runs to the top floor of a small abandoned house. She resumes reading her book as the Masked Mare Do Well leaves checkmarks on the guards, then jumps from ledge to ledge as she tries to get the book back. The Masked Mare Do Well enters the opening on the top floor and angrily approaches June.

June is so cornered and scared that she sadly admits she is not finished with the book. The Masked Mare Do Well pauses and does not threaten her. The Masked Mare Do Well asks her if her statement is true, and June explains to her that it is twenty pages long and she is only on the tenth page. The Masked Mare Do Well tells her that one solution is renewing the library book. June asks her what that means, and Twilight Sparkle explains that it is a way to have more time to read it, but the librarian will only renew it if the librarian stamps it, and she must hurry before the library close. June pauses and says, "Thank you," but she realizes that the Masked Mare Do Well is gone. She looks out the window and sees the Masked Mare Do Well riding Black Beauty back to the library in the distance.

Twilight Sparkle returns to the library and takes off her Masked Mare Do Well disguise. She tells Starlight Glimmer that the book will probably be back today, just as the sound of horses interrupts the conversation. The guards open the door and announce that June will enter the library. She tells Twilight Sparkle that she wants to renew her book. Twilight Sparkle renews it, and all sing "A Happy Ending." Twilight Sparkle asks June how she knew about renewing books. She answers her by asking, "Have you ever heard of... the Masked Mare Do Well?". Twilight Sparkle's stomach rumbles, and she invites everyone to her house for vegetable quesadillas.

Viejo turns back into the neighborhood as they all enter Twilight Sparkle's house. She opens the previously closed door and shouts, "I am the Masked Mare Do Well!"
