Star wakes up, excited to return to his homeward of Star World. The Pixies are seen going around their dorm rooms packing essentials for their journey and making final preparations. Tinker Bell texts Bloom to let her know about the trip, Rosetta settles the watering of her plants, Fawn jams out to loud rock music, which unfortunately disrupts Silvermist, Vidia simply dumps a drawer of clothing while Iridessa brings along everything in her walk-in closet. Outside Tinker Bell receives a message from Bloom about a surprise waiting for the Pixies at Alfea, so they proceed to the school to check out the surprise. They chat with their best friends before Bloom reveals the surprise: Musa has returned. Much to their surprise however, Fawn lashes out at Musa for her lack of contact with them. Tinker Bell chastises Bloom for the lack of warning, before Rosetta attempts to cut the tension by refocusing on the mission. The Winx offer their assistance, though Vidia quickly dismisses them, referencing their surprise.

Back at Pixie Hollow, Star flies the Pixies, who originally couldn't find the girls anywhere due to their impromptu trip. and gives them new space suits to traverse the stars with before leading them to Star World. They land on Star World and introduce themselves to the Stars, who get frightened and hide away much to Iridessa's surprise. Queen Serenity arrives and explains to them that their Stars tend to be shy, but are very amicable when they've had their trust gained, and introduces herself to the girls. She explains the situation of stars dying out, and she fears Star World could come under fire soon despite the star presently being in perfect health. She also tasks the Pixies with investigating the reason for the yellow light river being unable to reach her palace, due to it being a potential threat to her powers which come from those rivers. They agree and transform to follow the path.

In the middle of the forest, they find that a large hole has been dug in the river, draining the light river's waters, sealed with a dark dome. Iridessa obliterates the dome and the Pixies enter, noting that the light is draining into a robot of sorts. They engage in battle with the robot springing to life, with the Winx arriving in time to help them. After its defeat the Mark of Sombra appears and the robot opens up to reveal a tall woman with pink hair manning the mechanism from inside, introducing herself as Black Lady before escaping through a black hole. the group leaves the hole and Vidia seals the river with some Morphing power.

Fawn accuses the Winx of a lack of trust in their best friends, with Musa taking the blame for the girls presence on the star, voicing her support. Tinker Bell defends them, citing their necessary support in the battle prior. though Fawn continues to reject their support.

At the palace, the Pixies reveal what they discovered to the Queen. Shortly thereafter Serenity winces in pain. She explains that Star World's core is getting attacked, and Tinker Bell connects the dots to realize Black Lady was behind the assault, and the rivers were just used as a diversion. Queen Serenity grants the Pixies the Rocket power to empower them to save the stars. At the core, Black Lady is seen with her dark stars draining the star core.
